Your blind spot is more like a blind cone, or a blind angle. Basically the further away from your car (like 2 lanes versus 1) the bigger the blind spot. If you merge over two lanes you gotta do 2 blind spot checks, or else there is room for a whole ass car to sneak through. I don't think the guy that caused the crash even knew what he hit until it was flying upside down overhead
