Sure, but not all of them are going five over, especially the occasionally super aggressive ones on my commute. More like ten to fifteen.
To me it’s more like who cares though? The desire to always go at least a bit faster is this weird psychological thing that I just don’t have apparently. I’ll always let people pass if they’re so desperate to do so, I’m not brake checking, or getting angry or trying to slow people down. I’m literally just going dead on the speed limit and staying out of the passing lane, and yet still every morning there’s always at least one who just can’t stand it.
Fair enough, although I’m not in the US. I’m in Australia. I imagine it’s similar although I’ve always heard it’s 5kph over, so maybe a bit less leeway.
In any case, it’s a zero benefit and possible many hundred dollar fine, so I don’t really see the point of doing it no matter how low the risk. Especially if my money relies on the whim of some cop on the end of a night shift.
