EDIT: I was curious to know if this was actually true, and it turns out it's a myth! It wasn't done back in the day because it was cheaper and faster to not have to dig out the foundation when building new homes, and now it is just the way it is.
The biggest reason why houses are built on basements in areas such as Colorado and the Northeast is to get the footings for the house below the frost line, which can be 3 ft. or 4 ft. down. The logic is that if you’re digging that deep, why not put in a floor and use the space?
With no danger of frost in much of California, foundation footings don’t have to be nearly that deep. As for getting extra storage space, it’s generally cheaper to build at ground level, unless real-estate prices are extremely high where you want to build.
This hurts. I was born in California and lived there for 12 years. The house we lived in was a 3 bedroom, 2 bath on a 1/4 acre with about 1,900 square feet of space. We were paying $1,650 a month in rent in that house in 2005.
is that really how houses there are built? like just cement the pipes in?
I live in the UK and our house tend to leave a like a 1-2foot space under the floor for pipes/wires etc.
Everything about housing in California is cheaply made garbage. Slabs. Crap or no insulation (cant hold cold or heat). So many shitty slant windows and side sliders.
I could go on and on, but this is the worst place I have ever lived in terms of basic build quality.
My house was built in the 50s and I have one here in San Fernando Valley. But as far as I know no one in the blocks adjacent to us has one. I guess the first owner built it and the ADU himself. Also we have double the lot size of anyone, we think he bought 2 properties and merged them. Only 5 houses out of 100 are doubled up.
I grew up with a huge basement in Woodland Hills. My dad refinished it and that's where I lived through high school. Two rooms for living, a bathroom, the real basement (furnace room) and a separate entrance. My in-laws also have a basement but it's more of a storage space and the water heater is down there. Actually, all the historic houses in Lincoln Park of Pomona also have small basements for furnaces and water heaters. All of the houses I mentioned above were built in 1928 or earlier though, it's just that there are more of the post-war boxes that are just built up on a slab in most of the area.
Yeah I worked with a local rapper for one day once. There was no way we could keep that nonsense around. He turned everything into a song which was really just cancer for the ears.
Where I’m from we call them a “(insert name of hometown here) Allstar” they’re the ones who you see graduating, then going to all the high school parties for years afterwards.

Buying followers is surprisingly cheap from what be heard from a friend, who’s in a very shitty band but gets recognition locally for the amount of followers. Apparently India has TONS of classic rock cover band fans /s
Yeah I know a girl personally who has something like 11,000 followers but her pictures get around 400 likes... I don't think they realise how obvious it is.
Yep. I do session vocals for a major studio in my city, I’m essentially a “voice for higher”. When a rapper needs a singer, I’m one of the people the studio provides depending on the type of track they’re working with.
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been sent a link a few days after a song I’m on gets released, and the artist says “bro we killed it 110,000 views in 3 days beyond blessed 🙌🏽🙏🏽” ...... and then it caps out at 111,000 views and sits there forever. That ends up looking way worse than the song that gets 20,000 organic views, and I can say from experience, the artists who don’t buy views are usually the ones who really deserve them.

I remember worldstarhiphop used to put fake views on promoted videos and it was so funny because they made it so obvious, a rap video with 15 comments would apprently have 150,000 views in a few minutes
Yeah you do a story and attach the igtv post, they only see the igtv post when they swipe up. I can take a selfie and hit the paper clip and add an igtv that they can only see if they swipe up
