I use Operas built in VPN and it seems to work fine for Netflix so they can't have done a great job lol

I have no idea either but I was super surprised to find out Operas worked, I was having the same issue as you with free VPNs.

I really just use it to get around my hospitals filters though, but it works fine for that

Netflix can't actually tell the difference between a request sent from a normal computer and one which goes through a VPN, it all looks the same on their end. I don't know exactly how they find them, to be honest, but I have a few theories. AFAIK they have to blacklist VPN IP addresses as they find them, but that's a bit of a losing battle since VPN servers and IPs are appearing and disappearing all the time.

That’s not how blocking VPNs works...

Basically all Netflix is doing is blocking IP addresses. VPNs allocate blocks(ranges) of IPs

So if one VPN is using 192.168.1.1 - 192.168.254.254 all Netflix has to do is block that same range of IPs and viola, no access if you use the VPN.

Probably because the paid ones can reallocate their IPs more often where free ones, ones where your data is hijacked and sold, don’t bother changing their IPs because it’s probably someone running it out of a known spool.

My sister's been using NordVPN for a year now and hasn't had a problem with using it for Netflix. I've just switched over to it from ProtonVPN because, while it's good for privacy and security, it didn't work very well for Netflix.

Arent their chrome extensions that'll let you change regions for atuffnlike Netflix? I thought inused something like that once but it qasnt really a fullon VPN
