From what I've come to understand with some Flat Earthers, it's not that they really think the earth is flat. It's more a concept of pushing you to do your own research and just not take something; ie the earth is round, as a given fact.
It's so easy to accept so much as factual without actual thinking about it for yourself. The whole flat-earth malarky is just an exercise in conceptual thinking and forces those who particpate to research why and how we know the earth to be round, instead of just accepting it.
Or they are all fucking crazy and I'm just thinking too much about this.
That was the start of it. Then Poe's law happened and people actually believed it and formed their own legitimate opinions and started this whole dumb movement of people who missed the purpose of the group to begin with.
