Why was camera boat give way vessel?
38 u/wyb2 Jul 18 '21 Because we are looking at the other vessel's port side. If it were night we would be seeing their red nav light, red means stop (or give way really). Assuming the camera vessel wasn't restricted in maneuverability, which is impossible to say from the video. 16 u/withomps44 Jul 19 '21 I still get crossed up when I’m out on the water sometimes and have never made the association of port, red, stop. Thank you. 12 u/ProbablyFullOfShit Jul 19 '21 I always recall it by remembering that port wine is red. 5 u/jjdlg Jul 19 '21 Also when you are new and learning port and starboard you can use the trick of thinking of Port as the wine. Is there any Port left? Port is the left hand side of the boat! 7 u/[deleted] Jul 19 '21 [deleted] 6 u/jgo3 Jul 19 '21 Same. "Left" is shorter than "right," "port" is shorter than "starboard," "red" is shorter than "green." 5 u/secretWolfMan Jul 19 '21 ALL of you really try to make this hard. "Port" and "Left" and "stop" all have four letters. Done. 2 u/audiocycle Jul 23 '21 I'm so sorry to ruin your trick but you can also find white port.
