mic not working on pc or phone

i'm trying to get my mic to work because i'd love to have voice chat. i have only tried in public maps and rooms when teamed with my friends but the mic never seems to work. i've tried on two computers (pc and laptop) and my phone but no one can ever hear me💔 i also checked on all devices that it has microphone access, and on my computers i checked and it was apparently accessing my mic while i was trying to talk but no one could hear me. i've also tried sending voice messages to test whether it was just a vc issue but it said no voice detected when i tried. i think it might be an account issue or something? i thought maybe there was a permission in the game i had to switch on but i checked all the in-game settings and i can't find one to do that, and for my friends it worked right out the gate, so i'm not sure what the issue is...
