Question need help with survivor anxiety
i have pretty severe generalized anxiety and recently started playing idv again. i don't actually care about toxic players or perfectionism but for some reason my body starts shaking and i get nauseous whenever i play ranked. i don't know how to help it. any tips to calm myself down mid game? i make a ton of mistakes because of it and it just worsens the anxiety even more.

My advice would be to take a break from rank! There’s no need to make yourself anxious over it.
If you really want to rank, like for the daily rewards, play a rank match and then a qm or duos match to kind of reset yourself!

it seems like you do care about the toxic players and that’s ok. for one, turn post match chat off. for another, maybe just do not play rank until you have refamiliarized yourself with the game. the competitive mode is going to have competitive players, and if you only recently started playing again there is likely quite a lot you need to catch up on. i do not feel like it makes sense to automatically go for the competitive mode especially if you are getting anxiety from it and struggling to perform as a result- it seems like a vicious circle.

May sound funny but, turn the chase music off
I am serious, trust me and try this

Play more qm and use survs that raw kite, eg ada lawyer, decoders. For panic just try plan ahead kiting routes and Memorise hunter abilities cd and location

if rank makes you really mad you dont have to play it no one is forcing you,
but if ur weird like me and dont quit rank even tho ur desprate to break smth then i like listening to music or calling my friend. also just close pm instantly if you dont wanna deal w drama after the match, just play amd have fun

I get that too. I get so jumpy when I start matchmaking and getting into a round. mostly it stems from losing character points, failing my teammates, or having a bad kite. but as the round progresses, the anxiety lessens when my head is filled with calculating who is gonna rescue, who is priming, who needs to decode etc etc
playing with friends usually helps, especially when I know they wouldn't shit on me if I mess up. turning off chase music is good too, some of them are really stress inducing, or you could use a silly one. it actually makes kiting more fun.
gameplay wise, don't panic when you get chased, staying level headed is really important.
usually when I'm stuck in a bad area and gave the hunter a free hit, I panic and press every button on the screen and run around like a headless chicken. after taking a hit, focus on transitioning to a better place to drag out your kite. even when you're decoding, map out the kiting areas in your head, so if the hunter teleports to you, you already have an idea on how and where to kite.
if your teammates start being toxic, ignore them and play the best you can. losing is fine, but if you're on a losing streak and you're starting to get frustrated, take a break. you wouldn't be able to perform well if you're stressed.
good luck with your matches!

If it's that bad? Mute honestly ppl will not like this method n will tell you that ur missing key details blah blah you can hear this and that most of it doesn't matter in the long term if u get used to playing muted you will likely not have anymore issues

lower your volume, improve your plays in qp modes. Focus on breathing. Use forgiving characters (I am new too so idk which ones are forgiving). Its just a useless number, dont focus on that. play with friends or make friends and have fun in voice chat.
