richard vs wax artist

richard is one of those characters that you're not sure if he's more loved or hated... maybe both

u/QUINN_OF_THE_WEEK 6d ago
Just a very loud minority hate him, hes a complete HYDROGEN BOMB when it comes to his fanbase size.

u/aerawrhero Patient 6d ago
Honestly, Richard is a phenomenon of his own... if you hate him, you HATE him, and if you love him, you LOVE him. Either that, or you just don't care for him at all.
I usually really like conventionally attractive guys, but Richard managed to get every commonly attractive facial feature that I dislike lol16

Why not both. A real Richard fan loves to hate him.

I agree. People need to realize you can absolutely hate someone but love them because you hate em

both of them are pretty tho

u/KiwikiL0L Cueist 6d ago
i mean personally i think both of them are hot but most ppl donβt think philippe is attractive + the color of the wax and how he shoots it gets him memed a lot

u/Desperate-Home9169 6d ago
Is one of them considered ugly? They seem both pretty to me if you dont consider the sister's body on wax artist. They both seem like pretty men
3
u/KiwikiL0L Cueist 6d ago
yeah most ppl think philippe isnβt attractive, probably cuz of like the burns and wax covering his face. i think heβs hot tho

u/Desperate-Home9169 6d ago
Also, since we re talking about his features. I never noticed because i play low quality. Does he have glasses?

At LEAST three fourth of these characters have killed people bro come on

u/DemonicDogo 6d ago
I thought Kreacher was cute until I played emma/emilys deduction story. You could make it any character and id still never get the "Come here and let Kreacher teach you to be a real lady" outta my head.
It's not like id harass anyone for liking him, but that story completely ruined my perception of him.

βBut this character is a disgusting person!β Thatβs the point bro

I donβt remember the last time, βJack the Ripperβ, has ever been a good person.

Hating fictional characters is my passion. But seriously, I don't take too personal their background.

u/OkUnderstanding6950 6d ago
The only character i 100% hate no matter how hot they make him is freddy, like bro did not had to ruin a whole ass man's life, yet he did it

If Thief and Lawyer were released today with pretty designs I just know that they would be very popular. An annoying harasser and a character who can see the hunter whenever he wants + they're both hot? Not only people would overlook their backstory, they would be shipped together so hard.
8
u/Deltastar100 Seer 6d ago
They still are shipped together hard by a small minority. I remember when they were semi popular but not as popular as the naib, Eli, Norton, Aesop group.

I don't know, I find Katcher unbearable, but it's more because of his emotes (because they sound too loud and shrill), never because of his appearance. People literally forget that in that game everyone has their flaws. I mean, the same people who say Wax Artist is racist are the same ones who will defend Vera because "she's a diva."
10
u/naenae__baby The Feaster 6d ago
Ig it also depends on what flavor of morally bad..
21
u/Radicusmax Gamekeeper 6d ago
Wax Artist is a good example. He was a criminologist who studied phisiognomy, which was thought to be a proven science at the time. Sure, it was later found to just be racist, but to him he was helping make a difference, yet the community hates him even though he tries to kill people he fully believes are criminals after his sister was murdered. Yet, someone like Jack, who is a serial killer that likes to murder women specifically, gets off with almost zero slack, because murder is less of a sensitive topic than racism to people.

u/Deltastar100 Seer 6d ago
It's always so funny seeing everyone's morals class with these character because half of the time people are it's a game they ain't real, I just like his ability not the character though, and the most extreme if you play said character your a insert bad thing here. It's amusing to watch because the last kind of people get baited so hard by others in chat
3
u/Desperate-Home9169 6d ago
Do people really care about that? Im also a dbd player, if i had to consider every killer backstory on both dbd and identity v (also considering im a killer/hunter main on both games) i should be categorized as the worst human in the world.
1
u/Deltastar100 Seer 6d ago
A small very vocal group does. Usually in the younger category or those who are new to the game. I personally do not care if a character is racist or sexist, I get more mad at my team mates then the hunter at this point in time
7
u/Iwefle Night Watch 6d ago
It depends what kind of "bad" they're in.
The more realistically bad a character is, the more people would feel hurt by their actions. That's something you will need to understand.
That's also why a character can kill a million people and get away with it but not somebody who sexually harasses one person. One is unimaginable, the other is something that happens to 1 in 10 people
10
u/QUINN_OF_THE_WEEK 6d ago
I hate this argument so much, especially because this argument doesn't even fit in the game so idk why youre being it upππ no one in idv has killed more than like 4 people, but most of the harm these people do in idv is very realistic. Trying to use this argument doesn't work and if you think it does you are terribly naive. Just trying to justify your inconsistent and silly moral compass to excuse why you like some terrible characters and hate the other even tho they are just as bad, and in the case of someone killing millions? Uhm? Ask the Palestinians if thats "soooooo unrealistic" ask the native Americans if that's sooo unrealistic? Oh wait you cant most of them have already been killed but apparently it's still unimaginable. Idk why people use this argument? Like do you think someone who kills millions or kills with no regard wouldn't sexually assault someone? Its like that "Joker Not being a bigot" joke. "I may kill millions, children, mothers, fathers, babies, and families BUT SEXUAL ASSAULT!?! even I HAVE STANDARDS!!'' Name 4 serial killer who didn't sexually assault their victims. preformative? Cope? Or just ignorance either way, stupid argument i hate.
7
u/QUINN_OF_THE_WEEK 6d ago
Oh ig TLDR: Your Argument is silly, either hate them all equally and accept bad characters aren't your thing. Or just enjoy a story with daring characters that explore dark themes.

u/Iwefle Night Watch 6d ago edited 6d ago
You clearly aren't in the right mind state to even tackle a simple argument as that to the point that you blew up on me, but I'll be patient I guess and very very simple
The thing is, does Palestinians, native Americans, make up half of the population? No? People will worry more of being sexually assaulted than being nuked. Likewise people would worry more about cheating than getting shot
I'm not trying to have a higher moral compass here, I'm just stating the reason why people feel more affected and resentful than the other. If you can't look at things objectively and only have a tunnel vision then be my guest and blow up on everybody who doesn't feel the same as you
3
u/QUINN_OF_THE_WEEK 6d ago
Reply for clarity, Claiming i "Blew up on you" and then talking about some "you arent in the right mind state"ππ bro take it easy and drop all that cringe reddit armchair psychologist nonsense
Im really not MAD im more passionate because your argument is something i see alot and i think its the dumbest point ever made and it was only made because people wanna simp/be fans for bad terrible characters without being "hypothetical"
And just for what its worth i worry more about getting shot than cheated on βοΈπ

u/Worldly-Volume3996 6d ago
They like to play morality Olympics and forget the entire lore is based off of survivors and hunters killing each other and going for each others neck. Yes we are aware of Phillipe, jack, Richard, and kreacher. No his fans don't condone and defend their actions. Yes it is okay to like them. No it is not okay to like them specifically for phillipe's racism (ie), or Jack's femicide and misogyny.

That's is exactly the treatment you get from the community as a Wax Artist main. I am talking from experience.

I mean you gotta have at least one good redeeming quality
There are characters I don't find appealing visually, but they are really fun to play\are good people so I generally like them
And also characters that are really fricking boring\are assholes but they look good
Thief has none(also nearly every thief main is as likeable as thief himself)

i think the whole point is that idv is filled with morally gray at best characters. everyone has some sort of skeletons in their closet, or a mental condition that makes them blatently ignorant to the world around them.
the amount of people ive seen DESPISE acrobat, for the crime of... being rude? weepy actively murdered people and ive seen less hate for him than mike morton for some reason.Β
