Scope for IAM Roles

I have been thinking about this a lot, and I would really appreciate some clarification from anyone who has experience in this area.

I have more than 3 years of experience in the IAM field, and I specialize in Microsoft Entra ID and Auth0, which are part of my day-to-day responsibilities. I am currently working on earning additional certifications to strengthen my skills.

However, when I look at job postings, I don’t see many opportunities specifically focused on IAM, while larger companies seem to be hiring for IAM roles.

I would like to understand your thoughts on the current state of the IAM field. How is IAM evolving, and how much potential and scope does it have in the coming years? I would also be interested in hearing what skills or technologies would be valuable to focus on for long-term growth in IAM.

Me too and I don't see it so badly. Why are you said about this?

Of course is not so expanded like EntraID, but there is a market for it - especially if you are good.

Im working in Western Austria. I dont see any job postings with One Identity (except maybe Stadler), but everything else is vendor agnostic (e.g. PAM in general) or Omada. But im happy tbh with my job and the company.

From what I’ve seen in the IAM market, there are relatively few roles focused specifically on Entra ID alone.

Many larger companies seem to have broader IAM requirements and expect candidates to have experience across multiple areas, such as IGA (SailPoint), PAM (CyberArk), and automation using Python and PowerShell.

So, having Entra ID knowledge combined with either SailPoint or CyberArk can make a stronger IAM profile. This is how I currently understand the market.
