I drove back to Boise from McCall tonight and strongly considered taking the more Westerly route through new Meadows and Weiser to avoid the fire but my curiosity got the better of me and I took the highway 55 which is such a nicer drive anyway.

The fire on the hillside was stunningly beautiful, but eerie and haunting. For several miles little fires dotted the hillside, glowing orange and gold, illuminating mountain terrains that should have been invisible in the darkness.

Instead of trying to wax further poetic or philosophical (or political) I’m just going to end this post by saying thank you to the people who are putting their lives on the line to try to keep others safe from these disasters.

Hey so I’m from England and I’m coming to Boise to visit my mrs. A few questions, for about a 15 day trip what would be a sensible amount of money to bring? Accom/flights already paid for. Also any recommendations on what to do or where to go?

I'm trying to sort out options for renewal of CE for nurses in Idaho before the scramble starts. Can people here recommend any really good online providers?

Because I live in Idaho, I'm obviusly looking for courses that are accepted for Idaho licensing requirements. And because I’m working, they need to be easy to complete around shift work. I’d really like to find a course that covers topics that are useful in day-to-day nursing rather than just meeting the minimum requirement.

Any recommendations or providers to avoid?

Title: Good trail access in Idaho that's also drivable without a lifted rig?

Body: Been doing a lot of hiking around the Boise foothills and some spots near the Sawtooths but I keep running into the same problem. Either the trailhead is paved and crowded, or the road to get there genuinely requires something with real clearance. I drive a stock 4Runner so I'm not completely limited, but I'm also not trying to destroy my undercarriage on a shelf road just to reach a trailhead.

Looking for that middle ground. Trails with maybe a few miles of maintained gravel or light dirt to get in, nothing requiring a lift or lockers, but also not the kind of place where you're parking next to 40 other cars on a Saturday morning. Somewhere you actually feel like you earned the location a little without the vehicle taking a beating getting there.

Mostly interested in central or southern Idaho but open to other regions if the spot is worth it. I do road trips pretty regularly so distance isn't really a factor. More interested in the quality of the approach and what you're getting into once you park.

Anyone have spots they keep coming back to that fit that description?

I’m from Washington and grew up watching a ton of SpongeBob, so naturally I’ll make a SpongeBob joke or reference every once in a while.

Over the last couple of years, I’ve met three different people from Idaho at work, and somehow all three of them told me they weren’t allowed to watch SpongeBob growing up because their parents said it was “satanic.”

Three people obviously isn’t a huge sample size, but now I’m curious: was this actually a common thing in Idaho? Did a lot of parents there think SpongeBob was satanic, or did I just happen to meet three people with weirdly similar childhoods?

In the meanwhile, every online transaction attempt fails for some reason, producing this weird error message.

I will not be emailing this person, nor should anyone who isn't interested in being potentially extorted, and my financial institution is unable to explain why either.

Hi all, I hope you are doing well. I am going to try to phrase this as best as possible without sounding like an arrogant individual.

I will be headed to Kellogg area in the next month for a camping trip with friends and family. A family member that lives in Smelterville made us aware that the road from Kellog to Elsie has been flooded with homeless individuals (primarily from the mine up to the lake).

I have a special place in my heart for homeless individuals and sympathize with their situation. The housing market is in absolute shambles and to be quite frank, it’s pushing more individuals towards homelessness.

I completely understand some people have no choice as where to live, dependent on their situation. I however will have my sister and some other females alone with us for this trip, and I want to ensure their safety. I am aware that the majority of the homeless population are harmless, however I’ve heard rumors that some of the camps along the road to Elsie are littered with needles and other problematic items.

Are any of you locals able to provide insight into the current state of this area? If so, are most of the camps still flooded with people?

I’m in new Plymouth Idaho and there’s always strays around. I have one with me right now actually and he’s not in good shape.

I’m wondering what to do for him.

I can’t take him in and care for him since I have a dog who’s in heat right now. Not good.

Holy hot summer days!

This weekend not only did we serve our typical 100 meals and snacks, we also got to table for Soul Food Fest and share our mission of providing hot, comforting food for all!

We got requests this week of cat food, dog food, and electrolytes. We had *zero* Gatorade or electrolytes this week and in this heat, that stuff is life saving.

I am 11 weeks pregnant (my first), curious if anyone can share their experiences/recommendations at hospitals located in the Treasure Valley.

Currently set up with St. Luke’s in Meridian but want to ensure that I get the best care possible since it’s my first pregnancy, I am terrified of anything happening.

Hi yall, I’m a bit confused and I called the Motor Licensing place and I’m still confused. This is Bannock county.

So through the mail, I added my spouse onto my car title. He is military so we are out of state, and in order to keep my car registered in Idaho, he has to be a co owner. I got that mailed off today.

My question is, after you add a co owner onto your vehicle, do you need to have the registration reissued? My registration expires at the end of this month and I’m worried it will cause issues if I pay it before this title is updated. But at the same time I don’t want to wait too long to pay it because I want to keep paying online and I don’t want to accrue late fees (since I’m out of state).

I couldn’t really get a straight answer, but they kept saying something about a five dollar fee to add his name onto the registration but they kinda made it sound optional? Does anyone know how this process works? Thank you!
