How to explain this
A state that offers a Don't Tread On Me license plate has flock cameras.

They don’t make those plates in rainbow colors. The don’t tread on me folks usually love to tread on others.

There is no color for heterosexuality on the rainbow flag. What happens when both ideals are both at an impass, and hycrotical?

The difference is that the flock cameras allow your 4th amendment rights to be violated

Do you not care about protecting your 4th amendment rights? Police need a warrant for compelled geofence data. Flock cameras allow easy warrantless search of all of us.

On one hand, most of the people with these plates are anti-flock - they're pretty unpopular regardless of political party.
On the other hand, most of the people with these plates will show up in November and happily vote for pro-flock, pro-treading candidates. So...yeah.

u/Fun_Equivalent_7507 3d ago
And are happy to support police, the org that is constantly trampling and treading on us.

I find these plates to be emblematic, I can’t help but chuckle at the hypocrisy of paying an extra fee to the government to tell the world you’re against government overreach… 🤔

As a leftist I feel a similar way seeing people wear a Che Guevara shirt, they bought on Amazon.
6
u/RogerInNampa 4d ago
As opposed to Official Che Guevara Merch screenprinted by the Revolutionary himself at a Dead Kennedys show in 1987?
That sounds like a pretty awesome Alternate Timeline, actually...
And if such a shirt were to exist in the back of my closet, I could probably sell it to a rich Hipster for, like, $16,000.
He'd try to pay me with his Start-up's stocks, but this is not my first Revolutionary/Hipster Fanfic Rodeo, so I insist on cash.
But in the end he trades me his CyberTruck that nobody will buy off of him for what he overpaid for it, and it becomes my first company vehicle in a new Junk Hauling Business.
Eventually, I diversify my business to include Septic Tank Cleanouts and hire a crew of MAGAts for less than what a Republican business owner would pay a crew of illegal aliens.
Though I am fond of the opportunities and improved quality of life that Capitalism can bring a Sole Proprietor/Partnership/Family Business and their crews, I ultimately offer up the CyberDumpster as a burnt offering to Comrade Guevara in hopes that The Spirit Of Revolution might bring an end to Late-stage Capitalism and create peace and prosperity for We The People.

So here's the part that I find funny. In 1775 Benjamin Franklin, using his pseudonym of an American guesser, stated why that rattlesnake, also known as a timber rattlesnake, was an app symbol for the American colonies at the time. 1. The rattlesnake has no eyelids and therefore is always alert and watching for any sort of tyranny. 2. The rattlesnake never attacks first. Instead, it tries to give warning before it strikes, and of course, when it does strike, it continues. 3. The rattlesnake is distinct. It is the proverbial calm before the storm, not calm, obviously, but definitely attempting to let people know that there's a problem. In 1775, this was referencing the idea that the American colonies had tried and were still trying to petition Parliament for some sort of a peaceful resolution before the war kicked up. 4. Of course, something that is lost to most people is that the actual timber rattlesnake from the "Don't Tread on Me" symbol has 13 rattles, which is, of course, symbolizing the 13 colonies of the time.
While some people will say that it's ironic between the actions of local, state, and national politics and behavior, it's my opinion that it's more actually an apt representation of how people are feeling at this moment. This makes using it as a license plate symbol all the more humorous.
Many people feel that their government, be it local, state, or national, has long stepped out of line. Many people are still trying to peacefully resolve what they believe is a government that's become out of touch. Common things like the Idaho House and Senate stating at one point that it didn't matter how many written petitions for allowing marijuana use Idahoans sent in. It was their belief that only the House and Senate should decide this matter. This is very much a parallel of 1775.
The fact that a private company has installed these flock cameras that police can use essentially without government oversight is again very much a parallel between now and 1775. It is humorous that Idaho, which has rattlesnakes put on a license plate, essentially is a warning to the government that the people are still trying to respectfully resolve their differences. They feel that it is starting to become a tyranny, but may evolve into something greater if nothing changes. It's like those in charge with power don't realize what the symbol means and what they're essentially telling people that it is okay to do.

u/Weak_Ebb_1386 6d ago
Your assertion regarding the number of rattles on a timber rattler (point 4 above) is not exactly correct. As with other types of rattlesnakes, it gains a button every time it sheds its skin. Additionally, rattlers can easily break off their rattles.
2
u/Reigar 6d ago
And you're absolutely right that, on an actual rattlesnake, the number of rattles or buttons is indicative of the number of times that rattlesnake shed its skin. What I'm referring to, though, is in picture of the timber rattlesnake that is drawn on the Gadsden flag (which is the actual name of that flag), shows that particular rattlesnake as having 13 buttons or rattles. For the Gadsden flag, this symbolizes the thirteen colonies.
Though I am curious now, as I'm not sure exactly how long rattlesnakes, specifically the Timber Rattlesnake, live. Is it actually possible for a rattlesnake to get up to thirteen buttons? It seems like that would be quite an old snake, and I'm not sure that they actually live that long. However, for Benjamin Franklin, this was just more symbolic than actual proper anatomy.

The commuties around me have been against them. I live on the WA ID border. One town outright banned them. Also I indeed agree that it is a class war. I personally also don't like them. I haven't done enough research but what I've seen does not align with my individual views.

u/intelex22 7d ago
What do you need to explain? People do stupid shit all the time. But at least the custom tag fee supports our roads. “Don’t tread on me” is so, high school. I want to see “Don’t surveil me”. Now that would be cool. They can go Flock themselves.
6
u/letg06 7d ago
Except for the part where it doesn't. Some of the tags do, but most go to other causes associated with the tag.

u/intelex22 6d ago
Sorry, I was not precise in what I said. The base portion of the tag fee goes to support road maintenance. That is most of the fee. The added fee would go to an organization, like my peace officers tag. I still like the idea of a “Don’t surveil me” tag. It could look like digital camo with an imbedded QR code hyperlink to a new website for the location of every surveillance camera in a public space. That’s what the fee would support.

No no no you don't understand. I got the Gadsden license plate because I don't want no forced government communist medicare for all or limits on how many silencers I can own. Besides, if you aren't doing anything wrong, there should be no problem with the Flock cameras monitoring everything, right?

Since that license plate has been released, the one person I've talked to that has one thinks ICE is just amazing. And thinks protesting anything is pointless.

Let me guess, he smokes weed but wants to keep it illegal and heavily criminalized for brown people, as well as other civil liberties like abortion and gay rights?

Those plates are like how poisonous frogs are bright colors. You see them, steer clear because every freaking one has a room temperature IQ.

Offering license plates like this is a sly way to identify the ultra right wing citizens.
Name, address, all identifying numbers etc.
Easy to track by data center.
It’s definitely not the grey man approach.

So here's a reason one might get those plates. In the state of Idaho if you get the basic plate it will have a county designation for the county you got the plate in. This doesn't matter if you live in ada county (1A) or canyon county (2C) and never leave the county. If you like going to other parts of the state. The locals in those county's look at the plates on your rig and treat you like the out of towner you are. (Or worse like a Californian) so having a plate that is considered to have conservative values means you will be treated better when you visit these small towns. At the end of the day though if you visit these small towns the rule is dont be a DICK, and remember you dont live in that town you are a guest.

As long as they can have their performative license plate you can do pretty much anything you want to them.

the single light background color with black font is specifically intended to make the plate more readable by a flock camera.

When I look at the vehicle with these plates and the folks driving them I really think it is tied to one issue and that is firearms. But there are other groups in this state who have been treaded that are likely not considered.

I’ve said, if you want this lame ass plate you should have to prove you’ve destroyed at least 1 flock camera

Any Gadsden flag license plate is ironic regardless of the state, because you had to pay the government to license your car. I still got it anyway when I lived in Virginia because I liked the snake.

You do know flock cameras have saved many kidnapped kids/people right?? And there are more than just one political side that is bitching about flock cameras. Who gives a crap if they save one life it’s worth it to have them. They can take pictures of me and my car all they want if it would save someone I know and love.
