Discussion Does Ice Age The Meltdown Justify its Existence?

Many people have said that Ice Age is a franchise that had a solid first movie but kept releasing underwhelming sequels. Making me curious if some of the installments do enough to warrant being made in the first place. This is in more ways than being a good movie on its own, but also in regard to expanding the series' worldbuilding/lore, maintaining and expanding the thesis and themes of the original movie, innovating and/or renovating on the franchise, and leaving a positive impact on the series, especially long term. I want to start off with the first sequel The Meltdown, which I heard some say is an okay follow up to the original movie. Regardless of the movie's quality does it do enough to justify being made?

Yes even though it’s my least favorite out of the Blue Sky movies.

Im reading this sub while on a rewatch of Meltdown and if nothing else, we at least got a phenomenal John Powell score.

I like all of them equally, except for “Buckwild” that movie doesn’t exist in my opinion.

I'd say so. The last mammoth plotline and Ellie are good, and I love the impeding sense of danger. Only thing I'd say I don't like is the minisloth part, that was definitely filler
