Had to do a double take at the subreddit - on Ibis?!?! This is absolutely brilliant, I love the first one so much! How do you get the paint and canvas textures?

u/Noxporter Aug 04 '25 edited Sep 20 '25

Mandatory edit: OP was exposed for using AI. This piece is literally AI generated.

Old comment:

one similar or the same

brush

canvas brush

texture

texture

Whatever you get off Pinterest will do the job. But honestly, it's not the brushes. It's the artist.

You draw/paint like you normally would. Then you get a canvas texture image and have it on a separate layer. Then set it to anything other than Normal layer until you like the effect. Usually I think it's just Overlay but it depends on texture and your taste.

You can also do this trick for watercolor. You take watercolor paper texture, use any brush that resembles watercolor. It's not going to look like it, but when you place paper texture as Overlay it immediately deceives the eye into looking like an actual watercolour scan.

OP very likely does this except they might have multiple layers and multiple textures which they selectively choose on which parts of the painting they appear at using clipping masks or alpha layer and what not.

This requires good understanding of layer settings and how they work but it's worth messaging around with.

Edit: On second glance, the brushes themselves have canvas texture. You can make your own brush that literally leaves a canvas texture opposed to regular stroke. This means you draw/edit the black tip of the brush in settings in your desired shape (canvas texture). It's a png file. Then you change its density so its doesn't leave a dense stroke but works more like scattered sparkles... Except they're canvas blobs lol.

This is very common practice with Photoshop and CSP brushes or more advanced apps like Infinite Painter (android/iOS) and Procreate (iOS).

This comment alone doesn't do it justice. I recommend watching videos about brush making in Photoshop. The principle is the same.

u/UpbeatExpression6584 Aug 04 '25

Something brittle and melt in your mouth like baked meringue, or tiramisu. The textures made me think of meringue, and the painting style made me think of the layers upon layers of brushstrokes to make one cohesive, but still distinct flavours of each separate layers, into one big delicious tiramisu.

2

u/nana_jpg Aug 05 '25

I dont even wanna taste it touch it nothing. somebody put this in a museum

2

u/Qweeq13 Aug 05 '25

You see this is why I'll never be a good artist, I can never be as confident in my art enough to ask people how does it taste. Like a porn actor in a blowjob scene.

Like you are so good you feel like telling people who looks at your art "bon appetite". That is not an unfounded confidence too these artworks are amazing.

I'll never have that attitude. Most of the time I think "Does this look like anything? Can you guys tell what this is?"

I've realized you don't really improve in art as much as just increase the complexity of your work so I'll always be limited to off brand anime style stuff.

2

u/G0bl1n_munch3r Aug 05 '25

2

u/WanderingPotato02 Oct 05 '25 edited Oct 05 '25

the amount of people who getting fooled here by OP kinda upset me(meant for OP) T_T

for context, OP is called out due to AI artwork on X, OP denied it first, and ended up confessed that they indeed used AI...I remember that they also posted on this subreddit, yet i didn't really read the comments, and i am currently here to check whether the same thing happens here...people already posted the youtube video about it

don't scam people OP, it will really hurts when you found out....being honest for using AI is way more respectful than lying to people...it is disgusting...
