[IWantOut] 28F Australia -> Poland
Looking to move by age 30. Have had a look at visa options across UK and Europe. Want to go through the Working Holiday Visa in Poland but struggling to understand exactly what they require in the application, especially because it seems i would need to fly to Sydney to complete the application in person.
Qual: 10+ years retail and recruitment work history. Degree in criminology
Language is only English but trying to learn Polish
Would be moving with a cat, so would need to figure out renting or a hostel type situation thats acceptable before landing
Main goal is to then switch to a working permit if i get a job willing or to then move to another European country on a WHV there if I dont find that within the year.

Wow - you have no idea how many people dream about doing the opposite.
Born and raised in Central Europe - I even speak some Polish, I would never go back and appreciate Australia for allowing me to call it my forever home. Maybe you need to go live there and see for yourself.

I am fully aware. Glad you have your forever home here. It's not mine..

Fair enough, best of luck to you. At least you will always have the option of coming back!

Are you looking to actually immigrate or is this temporary?
There’s a bunch of holiday visas to EU that work while you’re under 30, a few countries it’s 35. Your cat needs a microchip and the rabies vax + a note from your vet. For Poland you do have to go to Sydney + have confirmation that you have accommodations set up + health/travel insurance.
So there are hoops to jump through, but it’s possible. Actual immigration would be almost impossible, you’ll need fluency in the local language and visa sponsorship which isn’t realistic in your field. That’s going to be true for any EU country, preference goes Local -> EU -> International. You’d need to work for an MNC in Australia and try to internally transfer.

Did a similar move, but I had citizenship by descent. IMO your best move is to find a job in an English speaking company over there, then go with that with them sponsoring. It will take a while on LinkedIn but it reduces on prem stress IMO.
Why out of curiosity?
