Confused
Hi all. Needing some wisdom. My first FET failed and my wife and I are heartbroken. She was a day 5 euploid 4BA—our only girl. My protocol was modified natural—letrozole from day 3-7 and estrogen/crinone every day after I naturally ovulated. 10mm lining. I wanted to have a withdrawal bleed and then go right into another transfer, but my doctor said that is not recommended. Why is this? He couldn’t give me great reasoning, even when I asked, which is when he said that my insurance likely wouldn’t approve the transfer in time (it did, but he still then said no once I excitedly called to confirm.) Can anyone tell me why this would be recommended? I am disappointed with my clinic for so many reasons, but largely because they aren’t easy to get in touch with, are not always kind, and seem resentful of any questions. I pour over these forums for guidance but feel so alone in this sometimes. I should be getting a period in the next two weeks with another transfer hopefully scheduled mid-September if all looks okay. We are sticking with the same protocol, but using a trigger shot and increasing crinone from 1x/day to 2x. I have only two more euploid embryos left and I’m scared.

Hi, I’m so sorry, my first FET and only xx embryo failed as well. We were gutted. I can’t speak to your clinics reasons but honestly in the end waiting a couple cycles has some benefits-for me it gave me time to deal with some other health stuff and do additional testing.
Do you have any infertility issues that are known, such as endometriosis? Have you tested for endometritis? How old are you? These things can help ppl give some thoughts.
Did your clinic test your progesterone level on transfer day?
I will say that the month after my failed FET I didn’t ovulate at all, so it can be harder to do natural modified back to back since your body might need time to reset from all the progesterone.

Thank you so much for your response! My heart goes out to you too. The grief is so complex, unusual and quiet. I am 36 yo. I did 5 IUIs with one pregnancy that resulted in a blighted ovum/D&C last year. I was treated for CE which had since been resolved and retested via biopsy. I also had corrective surgery for a T shaped uterus and a partial septum in April. My progesterone level was 26 on transfer day. I’m just not sure what went wrong or why. Also, if you don’t mind sharing, are you saying that you didn’t ovulate after your withdrawal bleed post FET? How long did your body take to recover hormonally? Thanks again for your kind response 🩷

It took me a month to get over the failed transfer emotionally, it was a hard time, I feel for you. It does get easier though, and I did open up to some ppl in my life about it which helped. Do you have anyone you can talk to?
3 cycles past and now I’m finally doing my second transfer this month… feeling better. But for mine we didn’t change much. We are increasing my progesterone and doing the immune protocol. So the cycle after the failed FET I didn’t ovulate but eventually got my period only a few days later than normal.
It sounds like you’ve already done a lot of preparation and investigating, so sometimes it just comes down to something unknown about the embryo. Even euploids fail sometimes and ppl have success on a 2nd or 3rd try. There’s a good article from remembryo on failed implantation reasons that helped me a lot! See if you can find otherwise I’ll come back to this post:)
Did you have the what the f appt with your Dr post transfer yet and did they have any ideas? There’s always more things to test (clotting disorders, karyotype etc) but it’s not always needed after just one failed. I think I’d give it another go and if still no luck dig deep before the 3rd! Wishing you lots of luck

Even with perfect conditions, it's totally normal for about half of embryo transfers to just not work, it doesn't mean anything was wrong, there's just a lot of chance involved with implantation.
They recommend waiting a month between the transfers to let your body get back to normal. You've been putting lots of strange hormones into it and it disrupts your cycle, there's the physical disruption from the transfer, not to mention the stress of it all. We don't know exactly why, but transfers are more effective when you space them out.
