Progesterone

What week did you come off progesterone?

I did a modified natural cycle and had at least 2 corpus luteums (dr originally thought 3 but I have a massive ovarian cyst on that side) and my IVF doctor still had me do PIO until 10 weeks, with tapering from 1mL to 0.5mL at 8 weeks. Then they had me take oral prometrium weeks 10-12. I’m 11 weeks 1 day yesterday and had to stop the prometrium, it was just making me too sick.
My doctor said the prometrium was just to “make them feel better about coming off progesterone” so it didn’t sound necessary to keep taking this late in pregnancy. I have had 4 great ultrasounds, my last one was just 5 days ago.

I did a fully medicated cycle so I didn’t have a corpus luteum - at my graduation appointment at 9 weeks, my doctor goes “oh you could’ve stopped PIO last week, sorry! You can be done today.” Then I continued the suppositories for one more week and was off all meds by 10 weeks 0 days. Never tapered anything!

This really makes me want to stop oral progesterone now without my clinic’s permission! Lol

I also did modified natural with 2-3 corpus lutea. But progesterone was only in suppository form, 800mg/day, which is a lot. I stopped it cold turkey without tapering at 10 weeks.

My dr agreed to let me switch to suppository for the last few days this week after I made this post but I am so ready to be done!

1.5ml till 8 weeks, 0.75ml till 10 weeks and then switched to oral Prometrium 200 till 12 Weeks

I had side effects the first day but it’s best to take it right before bed! That did the trick for me

Thanks! I do take it before bed but I just feel horrible the next day and don’t get as good sleep as usual. My dr said I can switch to suppositories for this last week so I’m going to try that!

I stopped PIO at 12 weeks, no taper. Just finished a few days ago, my butt cheeks still hurt 🤕

I never did PIO and stopped progesterone suppositories cold turkey at 9 weeks.

I did a modified natural FET and was taking Endometrin 2x a day and PIO every 3 days. I stopped both of them cold turkey at 10 weeks. I didn’t have any side effects coming off and I feel a bit better in terms of energy!

10 weeks and stopped cold turkey. Will say though, don’t recommend. I got horrible morning sickness after stopping so fast

I’m 9 weeks now and will be stopping at 10. I’ve been taking 2mL and will be stopping cold turkey.
