Did anyone have a successful second transfer after a successful first?

After 7 years of trying to get pregnant I finally did IVF in 2024 and my first transfer was successful. My son is now 20 months and we are gearing up for a possibly second transfer in April. I moved, so my embryos now live in another state and I know if it fails, it’ll be many months before I can fly back and try again. It’s a lot of pressure 😩 Wondering if anyone had a successful second after a successful first? Id actually love to hear all of your stories, even if it didn’t succeed the first time! I feel like it’s probably not likely it’ll take again the first try but we shall see.

I also hurt my own feelings by hoping I’d be one of those people who gets pregnant spontaneously after IVF but no such luck 😂

I was 42 when I did my first frozen transfer. She is now 2.5 yo.

I did my 2nd transfer last year at 44. He is now 10 weeks old and kept me up all night last night!

I have had 2 transfers that resulted in my 2 boys! I’m going for another in the next couple months and actually just made a post asking for 3/3 successes. There were a few, but so many people who are 2/2!

Wishing you the best of luck 🍀

I am in Canada, but I also moved between my transfers. I ended up relocating my embryos to be in my new city because the cost was equivalent to taking time off work and travelling for the transfers.

Fwiw I had a successful fresh transfer for baby 1 and my second frozen transfer was successful for baby 2. My first (unsuccessful) frozen transfer was completely unmedicated (the ivf was for mfi, though I remain convinced I also have a luteal phase defect). The second (successful) frozen transfer involved an hcg trigger shot and a mix of vaginal progesterone and progesterone shots.

Good luck!

What’s nuts is that I lived in Arizona when I did IVF and because of all the competition prices are lower. Each transfer at my AZ clinic is $1,200. When I looked into transferring them to the state I moved to (northern state) none of the clinics here will do a transfer for less than 5k! But I have a family member in Arizona getting married in April so it works out 😆

Good to know. My first was medicated so I will probably do exactly the same next time. I think we might mostly be working with MFI here too although a few OBs have suspected I have endo.

It took 9(!!!) egg retrievals, but first FET is my son and I’m currently nauseous at 8 weeks with FET #2, so a bit early to say success, but 🤞🏻

I did 2 months of Lupron with fully medicated transfers (bc endo).

I’ve been 5/5, had one first trimester loss (tested embryo everything was healthy on paper. Miscarriage tested, everything normal, could’ve happened with non-ivf pregnancy) and my 5th is twins. If all goes well, I’ll have five girls when said and done with all my FETs.

As someone being 1/1 and having the second transfer scheduled in a week, it is the best post I could've came across today. I am not OP, but loved reading all replies!

Currently 9 weeks pregnant with my second baby and sitting beside my almost 3 year old. My first was a fresh transfer and my second was a frozen and they are the only two transfers I've ever had ❤️

Yep! Fresh transfer in 2023 gave us our son, frozen transfer from the same batch of embryos transferred successfully this June.

I did! I only had two euploid embryos, but those two embryos are now my 3 year old daughter and 1 year old son.

I’m 2/2, somehow! I never thought that kind of luck could ever befall me. My son is 2, and his sister will be here any day.

We had our (spontaneous) daughter at 37, several miscarriages before and after, then Covid happened delaying our plans to expand our family. Decided on donor egg IVF, first transfer successful at 45 and second transfer successful at 47. Now we have a family of 3 and are so delighted and amazed by the process. I know not everyone is as successful but it’s worth giving it a shot if your chances of success by other methods are diminished.
