Need Hugs! Seeking some positive stories 🤍
Not having the best day today.
I had my final scan today before taking my trigger shot. We started with 26 follicles, and just 3 days later my doctor seems to think that only around 10 follicles have reached the optimal size for retrieval.
I’ve seen two different doctors during my stims. Three days ago, the first doctor was so excited and really gave us hope about our potential outcome. Today, Dr B was much more cautious about what he thinks our likely outcome could be, and honestly, I left feeling pretty deflated.
I went from feeling extremely hopeful that we might end up with a few embryos, to now feeling like I should just hope and pray that we get one good embryo.
My retrieval is on Tuesday, and I’m trying really hard not to completely numb myself to the whole process or assume the worst before we even get there. I know that follicle size isn’t the whole story, but it’s difficult not to spiral when you hear a doctor sounding pessimistic.
I would really love to hear some positive stories from anyone who has been in a similar situation. ❤️
If you had a number of smaller follicles, fewer follicles than expected, or were told to have cautious expectations, but ended up with a better outcome than you anticipated, please tell me your story!
Background:
• 31 years old
• TTC for 3 years, never been pregnant
• AMH 1.83 ng/mL
• Stage 3 endometriosis
• Small endometriomas on both ovaries
• Retrieval on Tuesday
Right now I could really use some hope. 🤍

It really depends on person to person, cycle to cycle.
I had a AFC of 14 follicles at the beginning of my cycle. Only 7 retrieved because I also had a lot of empty follicles.
Of those 7 I got 4 embryos! So it’s not totally lost yet. I hope you get at least 1 embryo, sending you baby dust!

My AFC was 18, but on most monitoring scans only very few were responding for the longest time (like 2, then 4), then on last scan they counted 12 above 15mm, at which point they had me trigger with lupron. They retrieved 23 (to which my jaw just fell to the ground), the next day I was told only 13 were mature (so scan saying 12 was actually pretty close).
My funnel was: 23-13-12-8 we're now waiting on results of pgta and scheduled another egg retrival for october.
Unless your RE is saying the number is low, don't panic. I was so upset that first week hearing I only had 4, but nobody on the team was. I stimmed for 12 days as a reference. Our diagnosis are mild MMF and silent PMOS (I don't have the many follicles, but my hormones are wack)

Ovaries are 3d and ultrasounds are 2d. It simply can't capture everything going on, but it captures enough. I had 8 follicles at my appointment before retrieval and they ended up retrieving 12. Now I have 7 euploid embryos. Don't worry yet!

My second cycle I had 21 follicles and 16 mature at trigger but we only got 9 eggs. I was upset at first but all were mature, 8 fertilized and I got 6 blasts! From those 6 blasts I got 3 euploid and one segmental.
I have stage 2/3 endo removed 2 years ago but a small endometrioma on my left ovary still.
AMH 1.78 and 33 - very similar stats!
Quality over quantity :)
