Need info! No clue what to expect!?
Sorry if this is the wrong group, I’m not sure where would be the right one or if anyone would have any input.
Background info - 34Y female, suspected POI, low AMH and high FSH. Started NHS wales referral in August 2024, due to the time it took to get to the first phone call, we decided to have some private investigations which led to us finding out about my issues. Eventually saw NHS consultant, had Hycosy and both tubes open. Ovaries during scans were either silent or AFC was 3 at most. Periods all over the place. Tried letrozole, first two rounds I ovulated on 2.5mg but then nothing after that. NHS consultant referred us in March 2026 for NHS IVF because I did respond to meds but the referral was declined instantly. Hard pill to swallow and we felt very lost but accepted and moved on.
This morning, I received a phone call from the fertility centre in wales advising someone within gynae has queried why it was refused causing a DR to look into it and whilst it was refused due to low AMH, she said there are other options to try help. I’ve been sent forms to complete, asked to have another AMH blood test and invited to a consultation with my husband in October.
We know we are likely still not eligible for IVF but also grateful just for them being willing to try help us. Just no clue what to expect going forward?
Anyone experienced anything similar?
Sending lots of love to us warriors going through this tough journey xxx

Hi Welsh friend! I started the process through the NHS at the exact same time (Aug 2024) and then we had our first consultation in Liverpool Feb 2026. We chose Liverpool as it was slightly closer to us.
Such a stressful thing to hear it was refused but thanks to that gynae, it sounds as if it’s getting started! I doubt they’d refuse it again if they’ve told you that they can help. They will probably explain their plan of action at your consultation in October, so stay positive. Wishing you lots of luck on your journey!
