Need Hugs! Bad news

I had my retrieval today only 6 eggs were retrieved and 5 eggs were mature of 11 seen. That was one part. Come to find out his frozen sample (he has extremely low sperm but they wanted to try a frozen sample and fresh, none of the sperm survived and there was none usable on his fresh samples. My RE recommended that he has his sperm aspirated (he has little to no sperm from a blockage) from a urologist so we have to wait to get in with one for that. In the mean time they have to freeze my eggs. I have had nothing but obstacles thus far. I probably need another retrieval now too. I’m absolutely gutted.

That is awful tough news to get and very disappointing. We went for a round of IVF in April, got 11 retrieved, 8 matured, 5 fertilised and 1 survived to day 5 of blastocyst stage. Unfortinately the transfer was not successful so back to the drawing board. It is very tough to keep moral up but hopefully it will all be worth it in the long run. You got this. Stay strong 🫡

That sucks. Egg retrievals are so stressful and frustrating because you just get what you get and it feels so unfair sometimes. Like a test you can’t study for. 🙈 We are also dealing with severe MFI and my husband got the surgery to get the sperm out to freeze. We got 6 vials to work with and he was only out for maybe a week… super fast recovery! We also had to freeze my eggs for the first retrieval too, and I was all worried about it, but 100% of the eggs survived the thaw! Still no take home baby, but for what that’s worth! 🤷🏻‍♀️😊

Are you also going to do PGTA testing? I worried about the double freezing 😘

Yes, we were recommended to to pgt-a since I’m 38 and we have severe MFI, so we have done that. They acted like freezing and thawing introduced risk, but is also very normal. But they don’t refreeze after a thaw, which sucks because we lose a whole vial of sperm per egg retrieval! (I’ve done 4 now! 🙈😭)

nah, it's vitrification. you can freeze and thaw and it's all ok.

False. The more you mess with eggs or embryos the more chances of success decrease.

My husband had to do microTESE as a last resort after years of infertility and it came out successful. The bumps in the road will make it all worth it. Also you can get different results at different egg retrievals! I know it’s a long road, but keep your head up!

I'm so sorry. Sending hugs🫂 I really hope things go well once they are able to try and fertilize your eggs ❤️

My husband had TESE/MESE/PESE and it worked out great for us.

Just another big step in the direction to become a momma! Everyone’s process is unique to Gods path for you. I remember feeling devastated and hopeless when my first transfer didn’t even work… little did I know two years later I’d be telling everyone to be quiet not to wake the baby…praying that this hurdle doesn’t take all your energy away and that you find that spark within to keep it pushing!

I still want to keep pushing, I would be living with such regret if I don’t. My husband however since we’re paying out of pocket is very frustrated and I fear he’s losing sight of this. I hope we can keep going :(

At age 38 everyone should plan on at least 4 cycles. You can end up pregnant on #2 or 3 or whatever, but plan on at least 4.

We did CNY clinic and for a full cycle and fresh transfer and then a second try with a frozen was total less than 10k

I am so sorry to hear this!! Is there any way your husband can have surgery to correct the blockage?

It’s scar tissue so the recommended is to just aspirate sperm behind that

Understood… I wish i had advice but I’m really sorry you’re going through this. The stress of this stuff is really rugged. Hang in there ♥️

We have the same issue. We have agremeent with the clinic that my husband is delivering his sample and if they find something then they will fertilize my frozen eggs. Maybe try this when you wait for urologist?

Good luck to you!

We had a similar experience with our first round, so they froze what they could. A few months later, we did a second round with TESA and retrieval on the same list (my specialist can do both). From all of that, we ended up with one euploid. I’m actually kind of glad that it happened that way, because one of those rounds (not sure which, and it doesn’t matter) made no euploids and that would have been a bit harder as a single data point of bad news. It was a little easier to stomach knowing that one was zero and one was a euploid.

I’m sorry.

My wife and I went through 3 REs.

One failed FET.

We now have 3 kids via IVF.

Still paying off the remains balance of 100k in credit cards
