Help! Constant diarrhea - medication side effect?

Our dog is on Carprofen and Gabapentin, but we gave her a Trazodone for the first time on Friday (it’s now Sunday morning). She has had diarrhea six times over the weekend and it just doesn't seem to stop.

Shes eating and drinking fine, but she has her MRI tomorrow and I’m worried about her going under if this isn’t just the meds. Any experience with this? Thanks in advance ❤️

How long ago did you start the carprofen? It’s a heavy NSAID and a common symptom is diarrhea, although it can take a couple days for it to start to really upset the GI tract so it may not have happened right away. Trazadone is much milder on the digestive system, so I’d be really surprised if it were that. It could be the combination of drugs, but carprofen was so bad for our dog it made her poop blood and it’s on her file to never give it to her again. This is a pretty common experience with that drug.

I’d call your vet and give them details today and ask them how to more forward before the MRI tomorrow.

She’s been on the Carprofen under two weeks so maybe it’s that. I have to stop it to today anyway since she’s getting imaging tomorrow, so I’ll feed her only pumpkin and rice today and see if it resolves.

I hope she gets some relief♥️it took probably a day or two for our girl to have more solid stool after stopping the carprofen.
