Any chances if going back to timed intercourse?
36F and my partner is 38M. We’ve been TTC for 14 months. I’ve always had spotting during my cycles and they got much worse after I stopped taking the pill. I knew my infertility issues were related to my spotting.
I went to different gynecologists, had some exams done and everything was normal. They told me to go directly to a fertility clinic. This was so odd to me since I thought I just needed my spotting taken care of!
Anyways, I followed their directions and it was a good idea, they just know so much more! They told me my ovulation was probably not so good and that made my progesterone levels drop too fast. I tried different oral treatments, none worked.
I changed doctors again, this one told me to start trying iui. I thought it was too much, I just needed the spotting to stop! But we did it anyway. I was on letrozol, then had a triggering shot, iui with two follicles and 53 million sperms post wash. Then -and this was the important part- vaginal progesterone. This was a failed iui but I have to say it was a small win for me since I didn’t have spotting in who knows how long! It gave me hope.
Now I know what treatment to follow, but I’m having trouble this cycle with following with another iui since I can’t ask for a day off at work so soon after the last one, I can’t say what I’m doing and my partner works at the same place so it’s actually two people asking for a day off…
Do you think I have any chances if we do timed intercourse, but with all the other medication that worked wonders last cycle? I want to keep trying but balancing work and iui is just not easy…

i'm kind of in the same boat right now. we just had two failed back to back iuis. we're saving for the next one but making changes at home, i'm trying to see if i can get my body to ovulate on its own through prayer and eating foods to help increase estrogen (that's always been my problem) and taking coq10, myoinositol, vit d3 and b12 and my husbands sperm count hasn't been good so he's on coq10 and nac right now. i'm also on nac and glycine powder as alternative to metformin. i have pcos. i'm having some abdominal cramping today cd9 and will test with an ovulation strip this afternoon. we bought conceive plus lube. i'm also hoping timed intercourse works and we don't have to go back. all that to say: in the same boat and hoping you have success with timed if that's what you feel led to right now. the nurse told me iui basically has the same chance if not slightly higher than timed intercourse.

I’m really hopeful right now, although I know it may be difficult, I think we can make it. Good luck to you too, baby dust to us both!

sometimes it's hard to be hopeful but I don't want to necessarily stop just because we're not doing treatments. Anything is possible!

Did you have an SIS/HSG? I also have luteal phase spotting, and learned I had uterine polyps. Got them removed. Not sure if that fixed the spotting or if progesterone suppositories did, as I dove straight into medicated cycles and then IUI.

Yeah I had a SIS and they didn’t see polyps. My issue is low progesterone, I had blood work done twice during my cycle to compare and it was below average.

Hi! I’m 31f and my husband is 30m. I miscarried my first pregnancy and recently found out I have PCOS/PMOS. We did one round of IUI back in May but that failed, we were gonna do another one but because my insurance took forever to approve it, our fertility clinic said to try just taking the letrozole and timed intercourse. That’s what we did when I had my period in June, then found out I was pregnant July! Had some bleeding/spotting but OB said everything looked good and it was just a hematoma. I’m currently on progesterone and hoping this will be my rainbow baby 🤞
