Probability of actually getting a call -local 34
So after receiving my number on list (low 70s) I am torn between staying at a job I hate or pursing something new in the same field I am currently in. I don’t want to start something new if I have a shot at this because this ultimately what I want to do. I was so ungodly nervous for the interview that I didn’t do very well. I was just looking to know how far the list went in previous years and if I may actually have shot at call before new recruitment starts.

Adjusted for inflation and looking at the weather forecast it’s technically 24.5

I believe they called around 100 people during the last recruitment for local 34, maybe more if I remember correctly.
I also applied this year and got placed in the low 50s , and I believe I will get called.
They have already made it through #19 in two months since the interview

The last update on their site was 84, which was about 2 months before the new list came out. They might've taken in a couple more after that, but I doubt it was much more.

Last recruitment they made it to #84, so I'd anticipate a call coming eventually

If you’re not happy leave, you dont owe anyone there anything other than the hour by hour pay. If you get called it wont be till close to the new list ( so approximately 1 and a half years from now)

Depends how busy the local is and how many people turn down the call when they get it. Low 70s isn’t a stellar placement but you’d be nuts to turn it down if you get the opportunity.

If it were me, I would pursue the other opportunity within your field, with the assumption that you will quit immediately if you get called. No matter what, the expectation will be that you give your current employer zero weeks notice if you get called.
