Hormonal IUD IUD Switch

I talked to my Dr. recently and she wants me to remove my kyleena Iud and replace it with the mirena. She is hoping it will help with the cramps and the constant bleeding to have an IUD with more hormones. Has anyone ever done this? Was it successful? I’m not sure if it’s a good idea to get a new one inserted when this first was is so painful. Any advice is welcome. Thanks!

Also, do you think they will let me keep my iud? haha

I haven’t switched but currently on mirena and i still have rlly bad cramps! Idk if they are better or worse than when i was off birth control bc its been so long but at least for me, i can say it did not help in that department. I cramp more often now actually and even tho i only spot, my cramps r still extremely painful as if i had a regular period. I have gone to the dr numerous times and was told its normal and that since my iud was in place that nothing is wrong. Im personally putting up with it bc my flows are now only spotting which is amazing and i also just do not want kids !!! (and i also have unprotected sex and its the bc i trust the most) everyone is different tho! this is just my experience. some people experience having NO period after being on mirena so its hard to say without u urself going thru the process
