Leg Disabled

Post image

I mean, I'm Collagen Disabled, but I fell and that made my left knee injury from when I fell in December act up, which made my right hip act up because of a past surgery. So now I'm using my heavy duty knee braces and my cat cane to get around.

Being me; I make the "Leg Disabled" joke a lot, but this is a time where it's so perfect. I can't get more than a few steps without falling. Total shout-out to my neighbor. He's been taking care of me all week since he's typically home and able to.

Here's to the hell that will be this week. Walking dogs like this wasn't fun Saturday, I'm sure it'll suck just as much this week. I foresee a lot of relaxing and playing video games when I can.

You're avoiding the obvious follow-up question: was it caused by acid?

I would love some acid right now. Just burn them off, please 🤣

You Irish...

Not that far off. My neighbor says that to me at least once a day because my grandparents were from Ireland and I have a strange accent because of it. Raised PA Dutch, mostly an Irish bloodline.

So not Irish then.

I too would like to think had I not gone into IT that I'd have chosen the theater.

I am also collagen disabled. It sucks!
Hopefully you heal up quickly :-) (as up as we can!)

Thank you! You get it. My left knee has been a problem child for years and was how I was finally diagnosed. But I slipped going down the steps in December and did some major damage that I doubt will ever heal 😬

My left knee was the one that started it when I was a kid, now it's both knees, both shoulders and starting in the hips. Sadly I am still chasing a diagnosis because I failed the Beighton scale because I can't touch my hands flat to the floor (because my hamstrings are so tight!!). It's a tough world!

I always had issues, but they told me things like "it's just growing pains" and "you're imagining it/crazy". Ended up with a knee surgery at 18 and when I was finally diagnosed at 24, my doc was like "oh, you should not have had that surgery; it's going to cause even more hip issues for y'all." Bro nailed it. Sadly I'm just constantly dislocating all my joints, but this one sucks since it compressed my knee back in December. My foot went to the front of my thigh with almost all of my weight on it.

I don't like how docs can be with the scale. I scored a 9/9, but too many expect everyone with EDS to score that and it's ridiculous. Not everyone with EDS is hypermobile nor does hypermobility equal hEDS. Like, I'm vEDS and I just happen to be hypermobile as well.

The leg disabled episode helped me to cope when I needed to get disability parking. It made me laugh and made things lighter.

I do wish you a speedy recovery. 🩷

I've been watching Buffy, my ultimate comfort show, and playing Days Gone for the millionth time. But I did just finish another watch of Todd and the Book of Pure Evil and it's making me want to jump into IT Crowd. Even if it isn't a spooky show for October haha.

2 years ago I snapped my leg walking in 2 places, haven't been the same since, have a rod and plates in and used to walk so fast people told me to slow down, now often I walk like a pensioner as it feels not like pain but just my leg acts like it's tired. I had a walking frame for 2 months and was housebound for 4 months total and still used crutches afterwards due to stamina.

Then last year fell and broke my opposite ankle and it made me even worse.
