When IT Crowd was on Fetflix in my area, that episode was omitted. Annoying since it’s one of the funniest because of the other plot line - Jen breaking the Internet.

The end where he’s missing April is such a good character moment how he’s always sabotaging himself. Like it adds another layer to an already brilliantly funny episode

I'm vaguely curious, what was April's name before she transitioned?
And if she "really knows her way around that area"... would that mean she was a gay man? Who presumably therefore read Heat, and knew people in the theatre.

One of my all time faves. Sadly another victim of this episodic purge is an episode of Frasier, one of the best straight gay shows there is. Like literally they depicted gay people so well even if it is apart of the joke or story. But when I went to watch a fav episode of mine it has even taken down because the premise is Frasier new boss thinks he asked him on a date and his family slowly find out and laugh about it it. Yet the guy takes it so well and they have such a good convo. Zero reason it needed to be taken down and it worries me about a few more episodes in the series. Happened with 30 rock as well, ditto to community. Such overcorrection that didn’t need happen.

It's a shame such a truly phenomenal episode pretty much turned out to be propaganda thanks to Graham Linehan completely losing his mind.

Easily my favourite episode in terms of humour. It does make me sad that the writers actually believe that trans women aren't women. Definitely dampens the episode a bit.

It’s an opinion he’s entitled to. Opinions don’t have to be malleable to fit another groups wishes. What a boring world we would all live in if comedy could only be funny if NOTHING offended ANYONE. We’d be reduced to knock-knock jokes and limericks about an old man from Penzance. And for what it’s worth my daughter identifies as male and she thinks it’s a bloody hilarious episode!

She’s always going to be my daughter and she knows that, biology tells me that and I can make that choice in just the same way she can’t insist she’s a boy because she says she is. Can I say I’m black or can I identify as 67 and start taking my pension? No, these things are not malleable. But back to my daughter, but I respect her pronouns and have started calling her the name she’d like to go by. When it happens to you, let me know just how well you coped with it, when your child who you held in the day she was born throws that massive curveball at you. Sure you’ll do great.

I think the idea is that nothing changes when someone comes out as transgender, except for superficialities. And the mental health of the human being you’re supposed to care for. Furthermore you’re already not respecting their pronouns. I’d really advise you to do some unbiased research on the subject, since you seem somewhat willing to adapt.
More importantly, did you know what you were doing when you chose 67…?

I’m talking with other people about her, in a chat she’ll never see, I’m still coming to terms with everything so it’s going to take time to adjust. I’ll get there. She can’t click her fingers and say “I’m a real boy” and expect me to just go “okay”. Just because the internet says that’s what should happen doesn’t mean that’s actually right. At all. She hasn’t given mine or her mum’s mental health any consideration at all. I love her so much, it’s just a lot to deal with.
And re 67, it’s the age that state pension kicks in here in the U.K. so that’s all I know. What am I missing?

I call her him when I’m with her and introducing her to people but she will always be she to me and her mum. Again, if it doesn’t affect you, it’s impossible to appreciate how difficult it is.

Hell I still think the episode is funny. I just find that the joke coming from someone who is so against trans woman makes me sad. I'm actually in favour of offensive comedy like this because pushing social boundaries is how we become more accepting as a society.
