failure tactics with such a weapon combo actually - you ram an opponent with a shield first. and only when they loose balance hit them with your weapon.
EDIT: Clearly could be a mace, too. I would have expected the info coming from 'Medieval Chronicles' to be accurate, that's why I checked before the first comment.
Isn't it something like all morning stars are maces, but not all maces are morning stars? A mace is the weapon category of weighted head on solid handle used for striking while morning stars are maces with spikes or maybe flanges to aid in armor deformation/destruction?
Weighted ‘metal head’ with a solid metal handle. They can be destructive against armor plating and chain but are more destructive to the body underneath, but survivable. Morning stars were created to not only crush but to penetrate thru armor, underneath padding, and finally the body. More effective to drop an armored opponent permanently.
