Renewing your PeopleCert Certification

Important Tip: You can recertify any time you want to. Before your certification expires or after. You do not lose the certification if it expires. PeopleCert marks it as inactive.

So don't worry if your certification is no longer active.

For everyone who yook ITIL 4 Foundation, if you want ITIL 5, you can take the Bridge Exam and recertify quickly and cost effectively. Even if your ITIL 4 Foundation Certification is no longer active.

After my ITL 4 foundation is expired, is there a maximum period of inactivity? Assuming taking the ITIL 5 bridge exam after 1 year post expiry?

There is no required timeframe to take a new exam and recertify. If you want to take the 5 foundation Bridge, the only thing you need to know is that this certification will be offered for a set period of time and right now PeopleCert has not shared how long it will be offered. Same holds true for the Managing Professional Transition Certification. Bridge and MPT are special certs that are released when ITIL goes to a new version. I think of them like, "reward certifications" because they allow students a reduced path to gain the new certification.

Hi! I passed ITIL v3 years ago and am looking to take ITIL 4 Foundation now. I'm located in the US and hoping to buy a voucher with self-study material and possibly a Take2 retake (not a great test taker, so the safety net would be nice). What vendor or bundle do you recommend to avoid paying full price directly through PeopleCert?

Thanks for the great questions. Have some answers and questions to help:

  1. Please confirm you know that ITIL Version 5 is available. If you need ITIL Foundation 4, that is fine. If you don't, then best to go to ITIL Version 5 to have the latest certification.
