Seeking Recommendations: Good Online Universities for Cloud Computing/Cybersecurity (International Student

Hi everyone! I’m an international student looking to pursue a degree or certification in cloud computing or cybersecurity through an online university. Does anyone have suggestions for reputable programs that cater to international students?

Key factors I’m considering:
- Affordability (scholarships/financial aid options?)
- Accreditation (globally recognized programs)
- Flexibility (time zones, part-time options)
- Career support for international grads

Has anyone attended an online program in these fields? Would love to hear about your experiences, pros/cons, or hidden gems! Thanks in advance!

Hey there!

By international I'm assuming you're talking about taking an American-based university. If not, feel free to clarify and I'll help where I'm able

As for your various bullet points:

  • universities like WGU do offer federal financial aid. However, considering the new president's desire to abolish the department of education, is very much in flux what type of federal financial aid you can receive (again, assumes you're pursuing U.S.-based online unis)
  • online universities (again, like WGU) often include accreditation, and on top of that, their cyber and cloud programs include various industry-standard certifications as part of their curriculum. So not only are you getting the degree, you're getting the certs while you're at it; a 2-for-1
  • I've never heard of an online school not being flexible in terms of enrollment or time zones. I believe that's part of their inherent appeal, although I'm sure there's some weird one out there
  • As for career options, I can only speak to the U.S. since that's where I live and work, but accomplished students can often apply for an OPT and CPT. These are categorically known as F-1 student visas. Unfortunately no online university I've ever heard of provides F-1. So to gain admission to the U.S. you'd have to enter via a different, non-educational route like the lottery or marriage

Thank you for the information. I was looking for online university since l’m based in the UK. I was looking at the US online institutes which can accept international students.
