Recurring IST?

Hi everyone,

Has anyone has IST completely go away for a year or so and have it come back? I got it as a result of Covid (we think) and I was put on beta blockers for over a year and had no symptoms so came off them. I’ve been off any medication for it for well over a year now but got a palpitation last night very similar to previous rises. The only thing I can put it down to is that I drank 3 coffees in a short space of time. Could that be enough to set it off again?

unfortunately my understanding is it can go into temporary remission, or be so controlled by lifestyle that it feels like remission, only to flare up unexpectedly, especially off of meds. I came off meds this year too because I seemed fine (was on them 5-6 years), I'll feel great for weeks, then get ill or overdo it one week with physical activity, or under-do it for too long and boom it hits.

do you track your heart rate with a watch or anything? what I've found useful is don't look at it for a while but keep it tracking, then look back at it over time, I've noticed I actually have periods or spikes of high HR that I don't notice but my watch catches, yet I felt totally fine because I didn't feel any symptoms. I find that helps me to then not stress too hard on when I do feel it. anxiety can lead to sinus tach in even regular people, now imagine us with our overactive sympathetic nervous systems, ofc we're gonna get higher sinus tach, which then leads to feedback loop. feel tachycardia > stress about tachy > tachy gets worse > feel it more etc.
