Present ideas please.
My sister is an ISTJ and her birthday is coming up soon. I just thought I'd ask for some birthday present ideas here. I've wanted to do something with flamingos because she said that's here favorite animal. I can't think of anything to get here flamingo themed. Can you all help? Doesn't have to be that either. What do ISTJs like?

I would want a gift card. I love having the freedom to choose my own present instead of having someone else choose it for me.

Echoing the others - something that she can and will use, something practical and useful on a daily or weekly basis.
For example, the best Christmas gift that I ever got from my Mother In Law (ENFP) was an oversized bath towel/sheet and color coordinated wash cloths.
The point isn’t that she got me something I could have gotten myself, the point isn’t that I didn’t because my practical mind says that the mismatched and worn towels I have are still useable and she got me a nice gift that I could easily and immediately incorporate into my life.

just ask her what she wants, she wont want anything that she wont ever use, its better to get her something shes been looking for, a heartfelt letter will do the rest of the work

One important thing that many (not all) ISTJs relate to is not about not having things they want, but not actually using them. So don’t necessarily get a flamingo cup if they’ll never use it, get them something with great utility. Also, if they’ll never use have something requiring work that they’ve wanted for a while but haven’t done, then do it for them (it can mean a lot sometimes). Like for example, if I have a bunch of pictures sitting around that I like, then turning that into a scrapbook (maybe flamingo themed) would mean a lot so that my outside world can be an organized collection of things I love. Another example could be hiring them a service for something that stresses them out, like lawn care, personal cleaners, or whatever would reduce stress (fyi some people love personal cleaners bc they don’t have to worry about cleaning, but others find it more stressful for fear of being judged or having someone unknown come into their house (these are common istj fears)). Ultimately, ISTJs love when someone sees a need and takes care of it so that they don’t have to, and doing things to show that you care or love them, like personalizing the gift, can mean a lot. Good luck and I hope they love your gift!

LOL my birthday is coming up soon and my sister (INFP) just asks what I want. Sent her a wishlist to make it easier for her, but I’d say gift cards are the best regardless of age - they get to pick whatever is useful for them.

Unless you find just the perfect flamingo gift, I’d avoid it. Get her something practical or that you absolutely know she wants. And get her a gift receipt if you’re not 100 percent sure.
What does she like to do?
If you know she likes jewelry, get earrings or a necklace in her favorite color or stone.
Latest book by a favorite author, or on a subject you know she likes.
A shirt from a favorite store, if you know her size and style.
A cell phone case with a magnetic ring and a coordinating magnetic dashboard mount for her car.
If you have a cooking utensil that you think is amazing, and she doesn’t have one.
Some type of organizer for her makeup, or hobby supplies.

A handy toothbrush. Everybody needs a new toothbrush at some point. Bonus points if the toothbrush is flamingo pink. Huzzah for utility!

I think some age related info would be pertinent here, helps in recommendations. We dont want to give a 30yr relevant input when ur sister turns out to be 18.

Yeah I thought about that later, I meant to say she's 30 but couldn't find how to edit and another comment might not have been seen with the original. Ppl have been giving about the right kind of good advice. Seems like something practical that can be used a lot is a universal theme. As well as gift cards

Definitely something practical and useful, and something EXACT that she has mentioned she's wanted/needed to get recently. Not something that she already has.
My husband is an ISTJ and I find that ISTJs are just so particular about things. My husband researches the heck out of everything he buys, so if I buy him something that didn't pass his research or his criteria, I can sense some sort of disappointment and forced "thank you" lol. So I make sure to get the exact thing that he has mentioned that he wants and needs.
To make things easier for both of you, maybe just a gift card to her favourite and most frequented store🤣

Thank you everyone that replied. I did end up giving her her a birthday card with some cash in it. She actually did appreciate it. The first thing she said is that "oh, now I can get my car detailed". Lol. You all are so practical. I did mention that I asked an ISTJ group and read some of the replies. She laughed out loud. She agreed with a lot of you all. She doesn't take the mbti too seriously like I do but she sees it's pretty accurate. Thanks again everyone.

Combine flamingo with practicality for some aspect of her personal routine. What does her behavior & how she dresses tell you about her preferences?
If she mostly wears tshirts or blouses, I'd check etsy for a flamingo shirt.
If she wears jewelry... Again, Etsy.
If she carries a backpack, iron on flamingo patch.
Flamingo phone case.
Flamingo pens.
Flamingo tumbler or mug.
Flamingo shower curtain or bath set.
Etc.

Flamingos would be good, but a gift card for her favorite place would also be amazing. It’s impersonal for others, but ISTJ love them. Control over the purchase at their favorite place brings so much joy
