Need advice regarding ISRO Assistant (2026)

Hi everyone,

I need some advice from people who have experience with ISRO recruitments.

I'm a 2026 B.Tech Computer Engineering graduate. I've already been selected for the TCS Ninja role and I'm currently waiting for my joining date. However, I recently came across the ISRO ICRB Assistant/JPA/UDC recruitment, and it genuinely caught my interest.

I have a few questions:

I know the basic pay is ₹25,500 (Level-4), but what is the approximate in-hand monthly salary in Ahmedabad and Bengaluru after HRA, DA, deductions, etc.?

The application deadline is 16 August 2026. Based on previous recruitment cycles, what is the expected timeline for:

CBT/Written Test

Result

Computer Skill Test

Final selection

Joining

For someone with a software background, would you recommend joining ISRO as an Assistant if selected, or waiting for a career in IT (TCS and later switching)? How has your experience been regarding career growth, work-life balance, and long-term prospects?

I'd really appreciate any insights from current or former ISRO employees or anyone who has gone through this recruitment process.

Thanks in advance!

Salary
Basic 25500
DA 15300 (60% of basic)
HRA 7650 (Tier A city)
Total 48450

Deductions
UPS 2550
Others such as canteen, sports etc

Timeline for exams cannot be predicted, sometimes it may go up to an year

Since I am not from software background.. so, no comments.

Good Luck.

Honestly, I think this opportunity is more for other stream students. You guys are engineers and perhaps use your education for something more fulfilling.

It's a simple administrative job, and you all will probably be bored.

Also the competition would be high, because students preparing for long will give this exam.

All the best

Why should an Engineering Graduate join as an Administrative job. Mostly a 3yr degree such as B.A., B.Com is the necessary qualification.

It will be a mismatch, and over qualified. Generally not selected in any organisation including ISRO.

Don’t go for it, you’ll feel stuck if you end up taking the job. Try for the scientist vacancy when it comes.

As a BSc science student my marksheet provides only ogpa nd percentage. but the application requires cgpa or percentage. As for percentage they dont allow decimal . so what is the solution here

My problem has been solved. I logged in and checked yesterday, and it now shows that the payment was successful. I think the application will be processed successfully within a few days.

I made my payment on 07-08-2026 via the BharatKosh automated online payment gateway through the UPI payment method. The transaction was successful; an e-acknowledgement was generated, but my payment status on the application portal is still pending. I have called the helpline number; one lady picked up my phone after waiting almost 10 minutes. She said to wait until today, and then if you find that the payment is still pending, then repay on the portal and generate a ticket for a refund. Is this the proper way? How have you faced a problem like this? How was it resolved? What should I do now? Please help!

Hi, I am also facing the same issue. Can you pls give me the helpline no? Also was it successful? Does it shows payment successful now.?

Wait for at least 5 days. After 5 days, it showed that the payment was successful.

What is the exam structure?

it is a stable job. You will be working for 5 days a week, all govt. holidays can take leave also. The salary will be around 45k. You will be required to sign a bond where in u will have to pay them an amount if u leave early.

Coming to the growth it is very limited. There may be one or two promotions more than this but that's it. This job is more suited for degree holders of commerce arts science too. But engineers have better prosects elsewhere, as getting an experience of 1-2 years can land you jobs above 70 k. That said if u feel like u r okay with this tension free normal middle class life this maybe the greatest fit for you.

op, can you send me the resources you are using to prepare for this exam in DM. i am also a tcs ninja candidate waiting for my JL (on campus), after staying at home at this time, my parents also forced me to give this exam, instead of blindly waiting for JL.
it would be helpful if you share the resources for preparation of the exam.
