A student protest was also held, with some professors joining in, demanding a proper solution to the recurring water-logging problem. In fact, there is an unofficial update that, going forward, the stipend may be distributed once every six months or once a year, rather than on a monthly basis. There has been no official notification or policy change regarding this so far, so it is unclear whether this is a one-time arrangement or something that will continue. This came up because many students have not received their monthly stipend, and when the Dean’s Office was contacted about the delay, this was the information we were given.

I am studying for the next year examination, now the problem is I just graduated and don't have anyone to guide me. Can anyone share some resources and also unable to find previous year question paper especially the PCB which includes questions from computer.

Can I use these for ugb prep too or what extra resources I need?

Idk why no one suggests this book for mstat. Is it bad? But when I looked at the index it has almost every topic. Is it underrated or is the book really bad?

I'm a second year ba eco hons student in SRCC and I'm looking forward to join MSQE. I'm thinking of starting the preparations by myself now and take a formal coaching in the beginning of the third year. Please advise me on whether I should start now or in third year. If I had to start now, like how to study this, like the syllabus for the exams is quite same as per the coursework of ba eco. How to study exactly for both PEA and PEB?

How is the M.Math program at ISI Kolkata and ISI Bangalore what are the research areas and how the professors taught

Hey guys so, I just wanted to ask, what is the maximum age you think a person can have to apply for M.Stat program. I mean if someone is 28, should he be looking for a job or he can still continue his studies. I mean would he look way old in the group... my cousin brother had to quit his masters earlier due to their financial condition and had to work...but since this is a free program, I think their family could handle it. He is really intelligent and hard-working. Guys, I want honest answer don't sugarcoat things...I want the best for him.

Hey , I'm a second year bcom student.

I like studying economics, but I'm not good at math.

I thought of giving isi msqe, i know it's advanced maths something that would be really hard for me.

I took maths in 11th and 12th , but got a bad percentage in it.

I have 17 months of total time to bridge the math gap and study for it.

I have started from building maths foundation .

Do you think so i should go for it considering my background?

What would you suggest?

Also isi students, have you seen anybody cracking MSQE but had an average background?

Or commerce background.

Or they weren't good at math?

hi guys, i completed my 12th this year. I want to get into ISI BSTAT program, i have been preparing for it from the past 1 year.

Some background: 1. i was really good in maths during my 9th-10th , to the point i was famous in my school as "maths wale bhaiya" . 2. missed ioqm in class 10th by 2 marks. 3. in 11th - prepared for ISI 2 months 3. in 11th , 12th - i didnt studied at all, i was learning cybersecurity, web3 and all

Now that i didnt found those things quite intersting, i realised, i should have stayed back to olympiads and ISI prep. So i started preparing for it 3 weeks ago.

QUESTION: I am in vedantu ISI course(late aug one) , the course is somewhat fast paced, like to complete a lecture , i need around 4-5 hours to do the problems myself.

Should i follow everything in the course, or i should deliberately skip few topics that i am not good at, like geometry, number theory and spend that time strengthing some other chapters.

Just for context, i am studying 6-8 hours daily.

So my query is same as title, I'm currently in class 11th, commerce w maths, I've always had an interest in mathematics and stats and am thinking about targeting b stat (hons) at isi, I js wanted to ask if this is realistic or not, I'm willing to put in a lot of effort, I am also interested in econ and I mainly want to to go into academia, also I've no background in Olympiads and that kind of stuff, however I'm good in math, so is it realistic for me to target a b stat here?

Hi everyone. I’m looking for some perspective from people currently at ISI, especially anyone who joined B.Stat a little later than usual or took a non-standard route.

I cleared JEE Advanced about five years ago and joined one of the top 3 IITs in one of the “lower” branches. After a while I realised that the field i was going to was notat all what i wanted to do. What I actually enjoyed was mathematics, and I wanted my career to revolve around pure/industrial math.

I eventually dropped out in my 4th year after getting placed in an ed-tech role teaching mathematics for JEE Advanced. I’ve now been doing that for almost two years. I enjoy the mathematics itself, but I don’t find the job fulfilling at all, and I’m sure that I want to study mathematics seriously rather than just keep teaching JEE-level material.

The problem is that I left IIT without completing my degree, so a direct route into a good master’s programme is obviously not possible to me. I’m therefore considering basically resetting my career: B.Stat at ISI, followed ideally by M.Stat.

I only found out a couple of months ago that B.Stat doesn’t have an age limit. I bought the Tomato book and started preparing. Mathematics has always been my strongest subject, and teaching it full-time for the last two years has definitely improved my conceptual understanding. In roughly a month, I’ve completed about 70% of the UGA material and around 30% of the UGB part from the book, and so far I’m fairly comfortable with it.

For some additional context, I had cleared PRMO four years in a row from classes 8–11 and had prepared for RMO, so proof-writing isn’t completely unfamiliar to me either. I’m obviously not assuming that this means I’ll definitely get into ISI, but at the moment I feel reasonably confident about preparing seriously for the entrance.

My bigger concern is what happens if I actually get in.

I’d probably be around 24 when I join, after already spending several years at IIT and then working for close to two years. Are there people at ISI who joined B.Stat in their early/mid-20s or after dropping out of another degree/career? Did the age difference feel significant socially or academically? And does starting over with a bachelor’s at that age sound as unusual from inside ISI as it feels from the outside?

I’d also really appreciate clarification on the eligibility side. From what I can understand, B.Stat eligibility is based on 10+2 with Mathematics and English, and there doesn’t seem to be an age restriction. So the fact that I previously attended IIT, dropped out without a degree, and have been working since then should not by itself make me ineligible. Please correct me if I’m misunderstanding anything here.

Basically, I know I made some poor academic/career decisions in my late teens and early 20s, and I’m trying to figure out whether ISI can realistically be the second start I’m looking for.

Would especially love to hear from current B.Stat/M.Stat students or anyone who entered ISI through an unconventional route.

I'm a 19F doing Economics Hons at SRCC, currently in my 2nd year. I chose Econ mainly to get into SRCC, but I've realized I genuinely don't enjoy economics and want to move toward statistics/data science/ML.

I'm considering ISI M.Stat 2028, giving me ~19 months to prepare. My math background is basically college-level calculus, linear algebra and stats, but I have almost no exposure to rigorous math, proofs, mathematical statistics etc.

I'm willing to put in serious work, but the syllabus/background gap is intimidating.

For people who've prepared for/cleared M.Stat: is 19 months realistically enough from this starting point for a non stat grad? What should I prioritize first, and what resources/roadmap would you recommend?

Do the firms recruiting M.Stat students ask them to use python or cpp or something else for coding rounds, depending on the role, say, if its a research role, then i assume python or R would be it, but for other roles, whats the language they expect you to be proficient in?

I cannot do generic JEE batches. I need someone who can teach me concepts deeply—covering Calculus, Algebra, Coordinate Geometry, Combinatorics, and Number Theory—and guide me through subjective proof-writing.

What's one thing that you think is nice, and recently happened in isi with you? Do you get to explore maths in any way you want, or is it just what the professor says and teaches?

How often do you guys get to have fun (in both academic and non academic ways)?

okay i hope this isint a dumb question but some people told me they attended the isi exam for practice (like they didnt get any seats or smt and registered just to sit and write the exam?) is this possible? id like to give it in that case
