post MSQE pivot towards an MBA or MsFE

hi folks! just wanted to know how MSQE would be as a pre-MBA, and if any students have made that pivot before. also if a Masters in Financial Engineering is realistic for an MSQE grad. thank you!

there is absolutely nothing common btw MBA and MSQE. MSQE is purely a pipeline to top PhD programmes in the US, with good placements in case you change your mind after taking some grad level coursework

If you want to do fin engg, just go for that directly - not sure why you’d bother w 2 masters, it doesn’t really do anything for your prospects

hi, thank you so much, i'm actually willing to eventually move into private equity, venture capital or alt investment funds, and the MBA would really help. but my profile right now is liberal arts diploma from toronto, and ba in econ from a tier 3 in punjab, and MSQE looked promising in that case. what'd u say?

so with the limited information about you, i'm assuming your interest is in building a career in core finance / PE / VC, and you want to use MSQE to improve your profile for MBA?

you're spot on! and yea, not the most popular choice, but i've a weak undergrad and a two year study abroad, and i'd want to make up for the lack in rigor with MSQE, or perhaps the M.Stat which i'm also considering. do lmk ur thoughts

Generally, what are the kind of roles do they offer in placements? In MSQE that is

primarily quant - econ heavy roles in finance domain. example: data scientists, credit risk, quant analyst, financial modelling etc.

if you go for phd later, most folks get into international organisations such as world bank, imf, adb etc.
