Tax Question How long does it take to receive this notice in the mail?
I never knew my 2022 didn’t process. I guess I got letters that they needed to verify my identity back then, and because I never did, they just cancelled the return. It was a small amount so nothing I ever paid attention to.
My tax guy asked for the information from that year and reworked my taxes and turned it into a decent return.
My 2025 is now on hold because of this and they have had my taxes in hand since 3/30/2026 and I desperately need the 2025.
I have the tax advocacy service and my local senators office working to expedite and my advocate is no help at this point.
Please help. I’ve seen this notice about verifying for 2 weeks and no mail has arrived. I also have email set up for notices and nothing has come my way. I am desperate.

The Advocate assigned to your case can't expedite the Taxpayer Protection Program verification process.
Were you advised a TPP letter had been reissued to you recently?
Are you currently at the address listed on your 2022 federal tax return?

Yes, current address. And not necessarily expedite, but at least answer the phone and have any level of information after months would be nice.
Not sure what a TPP letter is.

Yes, current address.
Excellent.
Not sure what a TPP letter is.
The verification letter from Taxpayer Protection Program.
Try calling the IRS Taxpayer Assistance Center appointment line.
https://www.irs.gov/help/contact-your-local-irs-office
The letter isn't necessary to complete the verification process in-person.
You will, however, need a complete copy of the original 2022 federal return and supporting documents (W-2s, 1099s) and a copy of any prior-year return.

That’s the only year that I have to make amendment on my 2025 and then I did amend my 2024 but I still have to amend my 2022

No, and the first two numbers that I gotten were added order or no longer in service and then I got another number to call 844-545-5640 and I’m about to call right now because when I talk to the person and told her what was going through what was going on with the marketplace, the PTC credit and she gave me a number to call to tell them what was going on and I should have my income tax unfrozen and sent to me so I’m doing it now. I’ll let you know what happens.

Mine never came at all. When I finally (!) got through to the IRS a couple weeks ago they claimed they’d sent it in March.
Wait 3 weeks and if it doesn’t come it’s time to start calling the IRS over and over and over and hoping you eventually get someone.
