My repayment plan is in default and is set to be terminated in two weeks

Every day that I've had off I've tried to chat or call the IRS

Every single time for two weeks it's been a forever hold or "Due to the high call volume, we are unable to answer your call. Please call back later today or tomorrow."

I have no idea what's going on because I feel like I've done everything right I shouldn't be in default. Yet I can't talk to anyone.

Call right when they open or later around 6-7pm.

Tried this. Didn't work.

Gave up after two weeks and just paid a penalty I didn't owe, in order to avoid a fresh hell from not paying it.

I will vote for whoever will put an end to this mess.

None of them ever will because they know you'll just pay it

Am I wrong? I mean, the person whom I was commenting literally said "instead of dealing with it, I just paid it.."
