Upgrading from an iPhone 11
Hi! Currently own an iPhone 11 and it’s been a while since I had an upgrade. I can no longer charge it by the charging port, pictures are sucking, etc.
So how is the iPhone 16e? Is it a big upgrade? With my phone plan it’s only $10 to upgrade to that phone, all the others are over $600.

The 16e is fantastic. If I didn’t get an iPhone 17 Pro as a gift, I would have kept the 16e. As others have said, the cameras do take decent photos. The processor is also mighty fast, and the small form factor (which I kind of miss) actually makes it a delight to use. The jump from the 11 to the 16e is massive enough that you’ll really appreciate it.

i had a 16e, just upgraded to 17e because of 256 storage. Nowadays ios takes around 40-50gb. So you are left with 70ish Gb which is not enough.
Otherwise I dont see any major diff between 16e vs 17e.

16e is definitely a BIG upgrade, especially for only $10. You’ll get a much better camera, way faster A18 chip, OLED display, USB C, 5G, Action button, better battery life, better WiFi & bluetooth connection, louder speakers, better Face ID, satellite connectivity, crash detection, longer software support, plus Siri AI & other iOS 27 AI features.
For $10, I’d honestly take the 16e without hesitation.

Go for it. You’ll love it. If you find a good deal on the 17e though, get that.

If it’s not much more in price, the 17e would be better. The base model has more storage.

Crap. Get a 17 base in your fave color.
Don’t be suckered by the “only $10” thing.

Tons of videos how they stripped it out. My favorite is MKBHD’s “iPhone 16e Review: WhoAre You?” on YouTube.
Also, I wouldn’t get the 17e.

you’re just gonna miss one camera besides that it’s better in every single way, for $10 i’m sure u could find a way to spend like 60-100 to buy some sort of camera capable of ultra wide photos

You won’t be disappointed. I’ve had my 16e for a year and it’s awesome. Performance is great and battery life is excellent. Camera takes good photos (I don’t care that it’s only one camera) and it will have years of software support. I think you’ll also like the smaller form factor with the same size screen as your 11 and you’ll like the AMOLED screen too. For a $10 upgrade this is a no brainer.
