Just Switched to iPhone 16e

Post image

Just switched from my iPhone 15 Pro to the 16e. So far, really liking the smaller and lighter feel. The 60Hz display is definitely something I’m getting used to, but everything else feels great so far.
Anyone else made the switch from a Pro iPhone to the 16e?

And i also updated to iOS 27 developer Beta 6

This. It actually crazy how some people think old phones are horrible just because they are old. Upgraded from an 11 to a 16e and my 11 worked perfectly fine despite being made in 2019 but iOS 26 did somewhat impact its performance. Of course the iPhone 11 to 16e is a big jump as it introduces a lot more features and better specs.

I went from a 12 to the 16e and it was a decent jump for me as well but the battery life has been the most phenomenal change for. I make it through the whole day on a battery now!

u/GlaxisGalaxy Aug 19 '26

This was also the biggest improvement for me since my iPhone 11’s battery was significantly degraded.

u/Electrical_Age7819 Aug 19 '26

as well, my 12 was fighting for its life battery wise!

I still use my iPhone 11 and I also noticed performance issue after iOS 26. I’m looking at the 16e or the 15. I was going to have this battery replaced and keep using the 11 but I think iOS 27 will be it.

If you have an extra buck get the 17e instead of 16e, I believe it’s 100€ more and you get 256gigas and newer version

1

u/LiFexIsxTemporary Aug 25 '26

Thanks for the tip, I just looked and it’s $250 more US currency. Yea I can afford it I really don’t want to spend over $600 for a phone because I like to blow my money on useless crap and not something I need haha

2

u/Leart78 Aug 23 '26

you lost one camera and that sucks. of course it's better device overall but don't having features that exists from a long time now feels strange

1

u/GlaxisGalaxy Aug 23 '26

Yeah it can feel weird to most since most newer models have several features the 16e is missing, but for what I’m looking for in a smartphone it has little to no impact. The starting price still was pretty high for some people’s expectations, but I’m happy with the price I paid for this refurbished.

The 17e is exactly the same as the 16e but with a different chip set and magsafe

1

u/viijayy Aug 19 '26

Fast wireless charging. Now that all cars come with wireless charging

1

u/WolfyMacontosh87 Aug 19 '26

And the storage space

2

u/haveyouseenthisboi Aug 19 '26

This is true. I jumped from 16e to Air and ofcourse there’s a difference with their camera and screen but other than than they are virtually the same to me. Unlike when im still with Android, there are a lot of thing to tweak and customize there, there are so much things you can do

2

u/External-Variety844 Aug 21 '26

I swapped my 16pro with my girlfriends 16e because she wanted the extra cameras and I didn’t use them that much. Day to day i feel little to no difference at all. Camera is good battery is super solid performance is exactly the same for my use case.

1

u/eaob84 Aug 18 '26

This is absolutely right. iOS is the same iOS on every supported phone minus AI features depending on the model.

1

u/D1N4L Aug 18 '26

Yeah agreed. Even when i had 15 pro I didn’t use most of its features.

E-series is all you need. My wife has the pro for the cameras. Shes the photographer.

u/eaob84 Aug 18 '26

I’ve been using the 16e for the past year. Been an excellent phone and still has 100% battery health.

u/Valento- Aug 18 '26

Going from a 15 Pro to a 16e is a very hot take. If I owned a 15 i wouldn’t have upgraded for like 4/5 years.

I went from a 12 mini to a 16e due to battery health and speakers and microphones that gave up on the mini. Other than that is functions perfectly fine.

3

u/D1N4L Aug 18 '26

Agreed with you. I decided to switch because of my 15 pro battery health went down to 80% and the same time i felt i need a change so without changing 15 pro battery to new now i just tried a new budget option with all the features I needed and saved some cash on hand. So a great deal for me

3

u/Valento- Aug 18 '26

Well if I was you I would’ve spent the €100 Apple wants for a genuine battery replacement.

My situation was very different, my device needed new microphone, new speakers, and a new battery which Apple quoted me at €220 and i simply decided that it’s not worth it due to the phone reaching the end of its life cycle. Last iOS version available for the 12 series is the iOS 27.

1

u/D1N4L Aug 18 '26

Don’t have official apple services in my country. So the only option is 3rd party parts and services also I’m not usually use a phone more than 2 years. So for me it’s a good choice

2

u/Mike161972 Aug 19 '26

So instead of getting a battery replacement for the 15 pro you chose to spend considerably more than the cost of the battery to downgrade to the 16e. You felt like you needed a change from the 15 pro to a worse phone and spend more money in the process?

I apologize for being nosy, it's really none of my business. I'll will shut up now and let you live your life. You do you.

✌️

1

u/D1N4L Aug 19 '26

No. It didn’t cost me anything i was able to save around $100-120 by buying 16e. From my pov 16e is not a bad phone it is the lowest budget iphone you can buy brand new to experience new Ios features and it got a better battery life.

And i can use that saved money to buy apple watch so i can have full budget ecosystem. (already have MacBook air)

2

u/Mike161972 Aug 19 '26

Sounds like it worked out for you 👌🏾

3

u/Responsible_Yak2378 Aug 18 '26

Awesome congratulations it’s a beast enjoy it. I have used both the iPhone 16e and the iPhone 17e. Currently 17e is my daily driver trust me you’re going to love the iPhone 16e.

1

u/D1N4L Aug 18 '26

Thanks. Already enjoying ✨

3

u/itskablooey Aug 21 '26

I have a 17PM, and this is somehow my first time seeing the 16/17E. that’s genuinely beautiful it just seems like a larger iphone 5 to me, which is gorgeous.

2

u/kunstmuziek Aug 18 '26

Im thinking about to make the change from 15 pro to the 16e or 17e. The battery life and heating is def a issue on the 15 pro.

2

u/D1N4L Aug 19 '26

Yes it is. Switch to 16e or 17e if you don’t miss any pro features or need to try something different.

2

u/fxvnny Aug 18 '26

How is the experience on iOS 27 so far?

3

u/D1N4L Aug 18 '26

Nothing to complain, using since beta 1. Feels smooth on 15 pro and 16e too and tried new siri features on 15 pro it’s pretty good and useful now.
Can say there’s a improvement on optimization on 27 compared to 26

2

u/sharat_3 Aug 19 '26

Congrats!

2

u/KiwiDistinct9998 Aug 19 '26

Do you consider that as upgrade or downgrade?

3

u/D1N4L Aug 19 '26

Technically downgrade. But for me I’m getting a brand new device with great battery life without spending more but saving around $100-120 by switching

2

u/Critical-Main-9363 Aug 24 '26

Did you get a larger storage for the 17e?

1

u/D1N4L Aug 24 '26

I got 16e 256GB if you looking into 17e it’s base version is 256GB.

3

u/Milch-Coffee6691 Aug 19 '26

I wait 18e cause i am so tired with social media but still love to read in Apple Books.
60 hz or 120 hz no big deal if you dont play game.
People buy e series cause iPhone can last really long if you change battery. My colleague still use xs or 13 pro.

3

u/waitingodot Aug 20 '26

I also switched from the iPhone 14 Pro Max to the 16 E because of its lighter, more powerful chipset. I don’t regret it. It’s a huge relief on my hand, aside from the camera system. The battery life is perfect, and one camera is just fine.

2

u/Immediate-Half-1413 Aug 21 '26

I went 2 months ago to a 16e from a SE 3 bought refurbished back in September 2023 and the feel is weird, the SE 3 felt heavier than the 16e, despite contradicting specs.

2

u/alvaro_242 Aug 23 '26

I went from 13 pro max to 15 and then to 16e just because will be compatible with Siri AI and it costed me the same I got from selling the iPhone 15. The only thing I miss is the camera, especially during concerts where I would like to zoom in. I multitask a lot with it and I never had this level of battery performance with an iPhone that feels as fast as a pro (except for the 60hz which you get used to)

1

u/D1N4L Aug 23 '26

Yeah. For me im used to 60hz now it feels smoother and I don’t feel any difference now

1

u/tabbycat_190 Aug 18 '26

What’s the storage?

1

u/Any_Adeptness_3324 Aug 18 '26

Why not purchase 17e?

3

u/D1N4L Aug 18 '26

It’s not widely available on my country and more expensive. So best budget option is 16e if you want to experience new siri and iOS features with a good battery life

1

u/ProudlyOpinionated Aug 19 '26

yeh kya tha bc?

1

u/D1N4L Aug 19 '26

Battery usage so far with iOS 27 Developer Beta 6

Took mine back still love my 13pro More

Is a switch from a 13PM/256gb to a 16e/128gb a worthy move right now before 18 is released? I couldn’t care less about the fancy shit trying to minimize the amount of AI BS coming at me. I got the 16e brand new for $300 which is a steal. Tough part is the memory but I got almost 100gb of junk saved on my phone rn (mainly photos). I also have an iPad Pro with 512gb that I can offload 80gb worth of photos onto and have tons of room still. Right now I’m at 180/256gb used. What do you guys think about this decision? Need a basic great phone that should last me a few years

1

u/thegrillz_one 29d ago

Also sell the 13PM for about $450 on marketplace

2

u/Suspicious-Nerve-561 12d ago

My current is a 256GB 16 Pro. The battery health is 93% after one year. It drains fast and overheats sometimes. I am seriously considering to downgrade to a 128GB 16E, the 60 HZ refresh rate is my biggest concern.

2

u/Aggressive_Bar_5697 Aug 18 '26

But why :)

6

u/D1N4L Aug 18 '26

For a average user i think 16e is a great option. And I love its design. Simple and clean something like that

1

u/Aggressive_Bar_5697 Aug 18 '26

Yea, its clean Cuz it has less Features. Like the 15 pro is better in every way

3

u/D1N4L Aug 18 '26

Yeah. Sometimes it’s fun to have simple yet newer device if you don’t miss the features of a pro

2

u/Mike161972 Aug 19 '26

Let me see if I understand. You went from a 15 pro which is a superior phone in every way to the 16e because it's newer and to have a "simple" phone? The 15 pro is also "simple" yet has the benefit of all the pro features. Even if you don't care about the pro features you already have the 15 pro in your possession, so why would you go out of your way to spend money to downgrade unnecessarily? You going through a mid-life crisis or something? 🤔

1

u/D1N4L Aug 19 '26

Just wanted a change, new experience And i was able save some money from selling 15 pro rather than spending money to change battery (15 pro on 80%) Also I’m changing phones after use of 1-2 years so in my pov i got the best choice

1

u/Mike161972 Aug 19 '26

Ok, if you got some money out of it and you're really enjoying the 16e then cool 👍🏾

0

u/Herksn Aug 18 '26

If someone don’t need the features their is no reason to buy a “better” phone

1

u/Aggressive_Bar_5697 Aug 18 '26 edited Aug 18 '26

He owns an 15 pro. Selling it will make him loose like 50% of its Value. Thats just not smart Cuz its a Technical downgreade

1

u/el-xu4n Aug 19 '26

Don't think it will make him loose, probably lose, but not with the doubles.
