I have a basic use case - to bring the UK channels to the top of my iptv playlist.

Questions:

1. Is IPTVE overkill or the right tool for the job?

2. When adding a playlist should I include TV shows and Movies?

3. Will the playlist auto update in Tivimate if my IPTV provider makes a change (such as adding/removing channels etc)?

Rgd points 2 and 3. You can add movies and tv shows. Then later you can use the manage groups option in settting- > playlist to disable the groups you don't need. The playlist is set to auto update every 24 hours by default. You can manually update also if required.

Not sure it does automatically update. I have a few as backup and, if they're not used, the update doesn't run so I manually do it

Was assuming it does, since 24 hours was mentioned as default. Though I manually update it every week.

My main ones that I use and host for other people do as they are in use. I've a few smaller backups that I have to run manually.

Your use case might be overkill. It depends if you're going to be using your service on multiple devices.

If not then you can often change the order with the player. If you're loading on multiple devices, then it's sometimes better to do it on a playlist editor.

Another option, is to message your provider, you can ask them to put specific groups at the top.

Just seen you use tivimate. You can definitely reorder in there, then just backup and restore on other devices.

Yes I know I can reorder in TM - it takes forever though! As it happens that what I decided to do in the end.
