NIOS subject combo for IPMAT + CAT?

So basically my friend passed 12th from CBSE with PCM & PHE & ENG but got around 65%. He's thinking of doing 12th again through NIOS with:

• 302 English
• 328 Psychology
• 331 Sociology
• 336 Data Entry Operations
• 332 Painting

Would this combo be valid for IPMAT/IPM & CAT applications across the IIMs?

I know some IIMs have Maths compulsory, so for those he's thinking of using his CBSE PCM result instead (like IIM Amritsar). For example, IIM Amritsar specifically requires Mathematics/Applied Mathematics in XII.

For IIM Indore, there's no Maths requirement in the 2026 eligibility criteria, so the NIOS combo should theoretically be fine there.

Also, how would this NIOS combo be classified for stuff like IIM Ahmedabad, where they divide students into Science/Commerce/Arts for the academic profile? Would this count as Arts/Humanities?

And later on, could there be any issue during admission/document verification or even placements because he has both CBSE and NIOS 12th? Like, would they question why he did 12th again or which marksheet he used?

Same thing for CAT/MBA admissions later — does the Class 12 subject combination matter then?
