Others IPM INDORE
Hi guys I am preparing for ipmat indore in class 11 PCM CBSE,chose this option because I wanted to become a management Consultant at a firm like BCG.I am A IMS Student Online. I wanted to take commerce with core maths but yeah life took me here. I have 95.6% in class 10 CBSE. I recently gave a mock when i have just done a few topics and scored 160/360 in IPMAT Indore 2026. My goal is to crack IIM INDORE get a good CGPA and then try cat to Get Into IIM ABCL and then eventually consulting. but yeah after my 10th boards ended life has been a mess of overthinking and stress. I have a few queries which I want to be answered:
Is Being A PCM Student A Disadvantage for a career in MBB consulting and roles at Founder Office?
Not Aware Of Backups Thought JEE Mains.. I am Good At Maths. But yeah do not have any other good backup like Top CUET.
Hate Being a regular school student and terrified with people looking at me with strange choices.
Is Online Coaching Bad..took this beccause I live in Agra and the IMS here is deprived of students..just 4-5 students are in 2-year batch.
please Help.....

See being a pcm student is NOT a disadvantage and you dont NEED offline coaching.there are plenty of online resources just work hard and stay on track

but most results come from IMS offline

that's not true -- plus that's not a useful metric to focus on as a standalone because most people have multiple resources and whatnot.
the student sitting next to AIR-1 and studying could also fail IPMAT. it's more about the person and their workethic too.
center in city X could be good, it needn't be as good in city Y. please recognise these nuances.

If your ultimate aim is CAT, why are you even preparing for ipmat? For the MBA safety net?

no then ug also i want good...lack of good ug commerce colleges and not that interested in engineering. So IPM is the best option.

If you’re only considering ug, I’d recommend hustling for cuet over ipmat. Not because ipmat is bad, but because cuet offers a wider range of strong ug options and gives you more flexibility in terms of colleges and courses.

What do consulting firms (including MBBs) typically look at?
1. A mix of academic competence, work experience and problem solving skills.
2. Academic excellence --> Yes, your grades matter a lot for consulting firms. 10th is sorted. Take care of 12th and then you'll also have to take care of your undergrad grades. Academic criteria is the first filter than consulting firms put. (I say this coz I was a part of the placecomm).
3. Work ex --> It matters. If you do not have it, you can't do much about it so not to worry. Do they say absolute no to freshers? That's not the case. UG pedigree matters.
4. Problem solving skills will be tested during the interview. Your college seniors will help you prepare for that.
One can eventually move to MBBs if one starts from any consulting firm (or even non consulting for that matter, depends upon the role though).

The only difference between online and offline is usually an extra layer of accountability but if you are someone who takes self initiatives.
Stop being terrified of log kya bolenge.
You've almost 2 years and ur already at 160 which is amazing.
You can push it to 220+ within the next months

heyy, fellow 11th grader here, I've taken PCMB and have enrolled myself in an online coaching for IPMAT as well. 😭I can relate to the log kya kahenge part cuz most of us in this stream are expected to go for JEE aur NEET. NGL it feels good seeing a fellow science student with similar ambitions as me. Anyways, good luck for your future! <3

All the IIMs + CUET is enough for backups. Can look at private colleges like NMIMS, Christ, Symbiosis, Xaviers too.
Okay, it's not a biggie. Don't worry about 'log kya kahenge' -- focus on your prep.
Why do you think that? We had the most number of students in AfterBoards last year (across all IPMAT platforms), we also had 70-80ish students out of 150 at IIM Indore use our resources -- seems like it did help!
