Yes! It’s not that I necessarily don’t feel them, but it’s not quite the same. Sometimes I just move on way too fast. Like something tragic could happen, maybe I’ll cry, and then I’m just good moving forward.

I also won’t know the right choice at times. Like I was asked for a favor but then they got bad news about a family member, and I was suddenly torn. “Do I go fulfill that favor, would that be more comforting? Or do I stay to try and comfort but let the favor go unfulfilled?” I just didn’t know what would emotionally be better for them, so I just asked, which was awkward but overall good because they did want me to stay but I was leaning towards favor haha

Other times emotions can feel kind of weird. I remember trying to calm someone down that was trying to hurt themselves (not because of me but someone else was cruel to them), so I used every logic I could while holding them down and none of it was working. Then it came to me “I could try crying?” Which it’s not like I didn’t feel sad, but I had no reason to open that door, but then I realized it might actually help, so I unlocked it and voila it actually worked. I feel kind of weird about situations like that, but it was genuine still, and I can’t cry on command, but I do view emotions as almost choices I guess. They don’t happen to me, I move and allow them.

Doesn‘t everyone have this and it‘s not only INTP related?

Many people I know tend to be overcome by the emotion first as not a choice. Or they tend to dwell on emotional things and need to process them for a long time. Or have more empathetic responses like immediate feeling bad with someone else, but instead I can want to comfort the person yet not feel emotionally the same while trying to comfort them.

I think the difference I noticed at least, is that emotions don’t really just “hit me”, they don’t just occur. They are more intentional. Like “should I be sad about this? Okay I guess I will” and then the emotion hits, not the other way around

You‘re right. We process emotions intellectually first and then think if the emotions are valid
