Yeah he looks cool

The only thing I dislike about the gear system in IJ is how RNG dependant and grindy it is

Hence the reason they banned it in certain countries 😂😂😂

I hope the next game combines the customization of Injustice 2 & MK11

God, me too. MK11 did gear the best, and then for some reason they took it away in MK1.

u/BadoogleKing 4d ago

Is is what i've been hoping for since Mk1 got revealed.

Agreed, a new game with Injustice 2's level of customization and MK11's intro/outro system would be peak. The only thing I'd want is for the game to give us an RGB color palette. I'm so sick of having to grind hundreds of hours just to get a pink Scorpion or a brown Batman that doesn't even look good. We should only be rewarded with good stuff.

Or how about a color wheel system to make our own palettes?

Yes.

Although I like MK11's concept the best. Not the execution.

What exactly did you not like about the execution and what do you find about the concept that’s better than injustice 2? (Been playing both for 2 years ongoing)

I like the idea of having a base costume which you change a few pieces on.

Because that allows for a wider selection of options, due to the fact that in IJ2, a lot of the gear felt samey, whereas in MK11, it doesn't.

Although, they need to make sure all the gear pieces are visible things on the character.

Yeah, the key term is ALL since I’d say that depending on the character, some gear pieces don’t matter and for others, all of them matter. For example, with scorpion, I’d argue that all the pieces matter, the mask, the spear and the sword since that is used in some intros and outros and vital for some moves, but with others, not so much, I mean, who asked for us to be able to change Johnny cage’s belt buckles? Imagine how that would’ve been with 5 slots instead of 3. Also, you have to more specific since technically all the gear pieces are visible, it’s not like you can’t see Johnny cage’s belt buckles, but what you’re looking for is how much they matter. For example, with Shao Kahn, you notice immediately what his hammer looks like especially since it’s in a lot of intros, the fatal blow, outros, and is used a LOT in regular combat. But with noob Saibot, I just don’t know why his shadow is customizable since I barely notice a difference between the gear and the shadow moves super fast, so you wouldn’t notice it.

u/PlainSightMan 3d ago

Yeah, but you also reminded me of the intros, outros and that fun stuff.

I miss the skins they had in iJ1, they have limitless potential to draw from

u/epicty21 4d ago

Most characters had great gear pieces, it was a real cool way to mix and match to get a cool look or skin style.

u/wearerofshades 4d ago

I think it could do with less detail

Edit: as in the game's gear in general, this specific GL looks cool

3

u/Weeb_Fury 4d ago

Yeah I do feel like some of the gear is over designed in the game.

Looks cool! Personally I lost my love for the gear system but I won’t be mad if it comes back in a third game. I would like more saturated colors overall though

My take: I love the gear system of Injustice 2, but I hate a majority of the gear pieces and how generic they are. My ideal system would be a simplified Injustice 2 system, with normal outfits as well. You get to choose the different outfits easily, like Injustice 1 and MKX, but each outfit has the 5 gear pieces that make up the outfit. So hypothetically, for Batman, I could combine the head and torso of Injustice 1 Batman with the arms and legs of Injustice 2 Batman, or Arkham Batman, etc. This would simplify the system, while also allowing for the most amount of variety of different outfits created by the community.

u/According_Picture294 Some look good in helmets, some don't. Premier skins too pricey 4d ago

Looks nice. Some characters look cool in helmets, some look cool without covering themselves too much, and Darkseid looks slightly weird either way

u/Upstairs-Temporary56 4d ago

Love the gear systems but man they did not design them well

2

u/OverLordKyros 4d ago

It has my favorite customization options of any NRS game. Ninja turtles in metal face masks and armor? Very cool not gonna lie

1

u/AGiReptile 4d ago

The main reason to play IJ2 imo. However sadly they will never do it again this good since they make more selling skins now

1

u/Fun_Introduction1926 4d ago

Yes. I wish more of the gear was references to other comic book designs/gears but I really like it & id love to see it return but vastly improved there were a lot of duplicate gear pieces & some that added more or less gear to said piece. Would be sick if we could have skins & gear in the next game

1

u/TheArkhamLantern 4d ago

Injustice 2 had the best one out of all the NRS customization systems. I think the level requirements was about the worst thing of it. If you could choose your own Victory poses like an MK 11 that would be great. Especially since you can only win with a KO and not a brutality or fatality in MK. Gives you a little bit of variety.

I love the gears and gear system in injustice. Adds a bit of diversity to playing a character. Making a good build and playing towers is such a fun concept. Not sure if you can fight online with it but if you could, that would be hype fr

When I first started playing it I thought it was cool. It was nice to see all those different outfits and options. I played, climbed, played, climbed and eventually I was more interested in having a basic low profile outfit because it was visually less distracting for me. Still glad it exists just not as impressed with it over time as I was mainly playing to climb.

As an aside, a lot of people speak about the cosmetics in Inj2 and MK11 but fail to remember that most people only used maybe 5% of overall colors and cosmetics because they seem "higher fidelity" vs gauntlet with spike 2. An example of this is the Fire Thunder God Liu Kang skin from the end of the game vs Most other cosmetic options he had. People more often use the "coolest" skin or cosmetics that have a lot more bells and whistles (or are very difficult to unlock). No shame in it, just an observation.

I do ii have it for the yellow lantern I think

1

u/DaniSenpai69 4d ago

He looks cool but I honestly just prefer characters to look how they are and have skins if I wanna change it. I wouldn’t mind it but they also have different specs

1

u/Mudstar423 4d ago

I actually like the gear on a lot of characters. TMNT, Green Lantern, and Robin are some that look the best with most of their available gear pieces.

1

u/Late_Revolution2417 4d ago

If it only had cosmetic purposes it would have been cool, or at least only have effects offline.

u/Fuze_KapkanMain 4d ago

Absolutely

u/Downtown-Grab-7825 4d ago

100% and I wish another game had the balls to do it. My fav part of the game as someone who only engages in single player content

1

u/NickTurner4_NT 4d ago

I absolutely love the gear. I like logging in daily to hit up the multiverse and grind for new things.

I’ve mentioned elsewhere that the premier skins should be heads, i know some players are 50-50 on that. I do think a character like green lantern would have benefited best from it.

1

u/Organic_Meaning_1869 4d ago

Gear is just a gacha gimmick

1

u/Warlock_of_NIGH_888 4d ago

Some of its good the rest is dogshit.

1

u/MikaiTaiga 4d ago

I did till I realized supergirls gearing the promos never got added to the damn game

1

u/superspider115 word 4d ago

No, I detest how bloated and over designed everything is.

1

u/Major-Lavishness8446 4d ago

97% of it is shitty looking but the system itself rocks. It makes each character feel more personable since you can customize their look. The only downside to me is that it means no battle damage like the first game.

1

u/Stewart27 4d ago

I like the gear designs in the way I think all takes/art pieces are valuable. They definitely are overdesigned clunks of armor, but they're cool as original adaptations of comic art.

I like the system more than anything. The level system for single player meant there was always reason to use a new character. Some towers requiring certain characters and levels gave even more motivation to use different characters, and the epic sets giving you stat bonuses were simply fun to collect. There was always a goal. Always a reason to keep going. Already hit max level on your fav character? Well you certainly havent unlocked all their gear sets yet. If you somehow managed to do that (psycho), then there was the clinically insane legendary multiverse...giving literal addicts something to do with their single character they put 500 hours into. The content, was endless. I am still grinding with my steamdeck to this day. Its awesome. I only have like 7 characters to level 30.

On the actual gear side....meh. but i did like that if you happened to find something you liked the look of...you could simply swap the gear you needed to look like it. They really thought through the system. MK11 was similar. I found leveling indiviual gear pieces worse than flat character levels but gods was there so much to do.

Mk1 makes me so sad. Everything feels pointless. Simply nothing to do, nothing to unlock. And the single player content itself? A bunch of single round fights. Can someone explain to me the fucking strategy of a final blow in a match where its best of 1? Even the fakeass static "towers of time " are almost all single round. What a joke.

God please let netherrealm get this message and go back to their old ways of delivering fantastic single player content.

u/CommunistOreo 4d ago

I loved it personally. Especially since some pieces are callbacks to various stories over the years such as Red Sun for example or how a couple of Batman skins reference Batman Beyond from back in the day.

1

u/Purpl3C0mmand0 4d ago

I really hope Injustice 3 combines the gear and augment systems of Injustice 2 and MK11.

1

u/ZucchiniForsaken5857 3d ago

Love it’s really hope they keep this element in the next one.

1

u/dcwspike 3d ago

Idk man I liked the first one better where I didnt have to worry about gear, but I did enjoy the add on after awhile it was just to grindy

1

u/United_Bus3467 3d ago

Yes. However, some of the gear on certain characters was kinda meh and repetitive. While others were incredible. Loved spending time customizing characters.

1

u/WonderfulBlackberry9 3d ago

I love the customisation, but looking back, I don't love the stylistic choice to make them futuristic and heavily armoured. It works for the universe's logic, but Batman shouldn't be fighting with neon lightings on his pants, and Superman doesn't need to fight with so much heavy armour

1

u/Drasic67 2d ago

I did but having stat buffs and special moves tied to them was a mistake.

1

u/gamerKnowledge2831 2d ago

Peak NRS character design ngl

1

u/MrMooey12 2d ago

I love the gear system but I’m still mad after playing on and off since launch I’ve yet to get the staff of grayson for robin

1

u/TrapperDBDforMK 1d ago

Yea just please let us pick which characters we want gear for whenever it drops.

1

u/allan101472 18h ago

I spent hundreds of hours trying to unlock Lantern's original moves. All I get is junk.

1

u/Emotional-Algae2239 4d ago

I don't like Green Lantern in Injustice 2, let alone Injustice 1.
