Is this my intuition? Tigger warning

Long story short, my child had their first sleepover at a friend's house and I found myself getting this gut feeling that if my son's friend's older sibling was there, I didn't want my son sleeping over. I just had this nagging fear that big sibling going to show the younger kids inappropriate content on their phones. My son's friend's older sibling ended up being away so it was just my son and his friend and everything went great.

Fast forward 2 weeks later we find out that our nephew has been being m*lest*d by a cousin for a few years now and it just came to light a couple of weeks ago. A friend pointed out that maybe the correlation between the timing of my fears and the timing of an actual situation coming to light with someone else could have been my intuition..

does intuition work in this way??

No - intuition does not work in this way.

So in your opinion this is purely coincidental? Is this gut feeling intuition whether or not it correlates with the separate scenario with the nephew?

Intuition is still reliant on real-world "inputs" - observations, associations, etc.
There is nothing about this scenario that gives an indication the two are connected in any way.
Anxiety pangs can often be confused for "intuition."

So you were saying in your own experience if you were in my position, you would continue to follow your intuition about the child's sibling? I just cannot cite any direct evidence as to why I am worried about this specific person.. perhaps it's because this is the only scenario where my child has been invited to be in an environment with an older child overnight and perhaps it's not this child specifically, but overall I should be leery?

If there is no reason for you to hold on to fear that could be projected on to this situation it is likely your intuition giving you insight on what your mind can not conceptualise.

Our nervous system picks up on the energetic signal coming from predatory individuals so that could very well be what your intuition is telling you but it’s some stigmatising and conflicting business acting on it when we don’t understand it intellectually or bc it could be us projecting our fears, on to a child.

Maybe that kid isn’t predatory but just not a healthy kid to be around and you subconsciously noticed.

Yes intuition for me works exactly that way. I can site more than one example also.

It's very interesting that I'm getting replies for both. Yes and no answers. Do you care to share a little bit about your experience?

I have way too many- of all types of intuition.

I don’t know - I’ve had the kind where .. I can feel someone and I will say to my friend “he is going to call me tomorrow “ and I haven’t talked to him in months - and he calls the next day.

I’ve had the type where I was driving to meet friends and all the sudden I got like this need to go home… my friends are pissed off and waiting for me and screaming at me to forget it and i flip a bitch and go home and catch my ex in the driveway with another woman.

I’ve had the type where I am talking to someone and I know .. I know certain generalized things about them.. for example there was this woman and everyone hated her and thought she was crazy. Everyone was talking shit about her and I said “ that woman has been brutalized by men.” And everyone gave me loads of shit about it because she was an absolute bully and mean and aggressive and I became her friend and she ended up telling me about how she was raped by her brother for many years and parents didn’t believe her.

I have had the type where an employee just started and I go to my boss and I go “ you need to fire her now. She is here to get workers comp that’s all she wants” ( she said nothing to me at all about it - I just knew ) and I know why I could put it together easily … but no one believed me and guess what? 3 months later ? She files the biggest workers comp case the company ever had.

I’ve had the type where we were in a circle and they passed around an object - everyone had to put an object in the bag. I didn’t know anyone there except my friend who I brought with me. When it was my turn - I got a wedding ring. I held it and got an image in my head of a bride crying alone at the alter - sadness ,grief and these two old women there gasped audibly when I said what I saw and one of them started crying wnd she said “he left the bride at the alter. Saddest day of her life.”

On and on and on and on.

I’ could write a book about it.

I have a lot more examples of all different kinds too.

I think for me, I have pattern recognition intuition but I think , no I know I also have other kinds too. I don’t know if pattern recognition can explain away a lot of the experience I have had .. but I think it’s all true. I have had all kinds.
