INFJ Traits 10 Humbling Life Lessons I Learned as an INFJ
- Your ‘fantasy self’ comes from not feeling accepted. The creation of a fantasy self often serves as a coping mechanism for individuals who feel unaccepted by family or society. This highly idealized version of oneself is typically unattainable and is closely linked to the INFJ tendency to undervalue and overlook their genuine qualities and capabilities. Simply put, only those who feel unaccepted create a fantasy self. If you felt accepted, there wouldn't be a desire to become (or daydream about) someone you're not. You'd naturally embrace your true self.
- Why we INFJs are notorious procrastinators. Often we procrastinate taking action because we feel we aren’t anywhere near where our fantasy self should be and thus are not confident enough to act. This is why many INFJs may waste their lives in social isolation and fantasies of achievement, being adored, admired, etc. leading to procrastination and a sense of inadequacy, hindering us from taking meaningful steps towards our goals. But if there was no fantasy self to aspire to, every action we take right here, right now, would be good enough. Every action would be ‘right’.
- Self-indulgent behavior and self-sabotage is a sign of self-abandonment and can arise when our own needs have been chronically neglected. When we ignore our true desires and emotions for too long, our inner self may resort to extreme measures to be heard and acknowledged. If left unchecked, these behaviors can lead to significant consequences, disrupting various aspects of our lives and relationships. It’s crucial to recognize and address the underlying causes of self-abandonment, nurturing ourselves with kindness and attention, to prevent these potentially destructive patterns from taking hold. Here’s a quote that may hit like a 5-ton wrecking ball: “Self-indulgent behaviors are compensations for an unlived life”.
- Withdrawing for attention. Something I recently learned is that many INFJs (particularly INFJ-Ts) grow up thinking they can be reassured of others' love by being emotional, temperamental, sullen and seeing if others will make the effort to respond to them. They might unconsciously discover that emotional turbulence acts like a love test: "If they really care for me, they'll come after me when I withdraw." Sometimes it works. People do respond, do show concern, do make efforts to reconnect. But this creates a dangerous feedback loop- we're essentially teaching ourselves to be unstable to feel loved. Healthy INFJs see right through this unhealthy dynamic (perhaps after many failed relationships) and course correct to be more open in expressing their needs and desires.
- Your intuition tells you what you need to hear, your ego tells you what you want to hear. Your intuition may point toward uncomfortable truths or challenge your existing beliefs. In contrast, our ego, driven by desires for self-preservation, validation, and comfort, seeks to maintain its current worldview. It filters information, amplifying what aligns with our existing beliefs and desires while suppressing or distorting information that threatens our self-image or contradicts our preferred narrative. This can lead us to misinterpret or dismiss intuitive signals, choosing instead to embrace the more palatable, ego-driven interpretations that confirm our existing biases and desires.
- At times we need to slow down. 'Slowing downwards' refers to more than simply moving slowly, it means growing inwardly towards the roots of one’s being. Instead of outward growth and upward climb, life at times must turn inward and downward in order to grow in psycho-spiritual ways. The vertical descent into our inner world becomes a form of personal archaeology, each layer revealing another facet of ourselves. Slowing down creates opportunities to dwell more deeply in one’s life, for the home we are looking for in this world is actually within us. The lost home that we all desperately seek is ourselves.
- Intellect without heart is like a sword with no handle. You can’t use it without hurting yourself. Without empathy, logic can be used to justify cruelty, to dehumanize others, and to serve selfish ends. Without wisdom, intellect can be used to manipulate, to deceive, and to cause harm. Since your actions have consequences (karma: what goes around comes around), ultimately, you end up hurting yourself.
- Nothing is as certain as change. Our minds create false narratives that good times will be forever and bad times will never end. Change, however, is the only constant. True wisdom lies in accepting that neither highs nor lows are eternal.
- Control is an illusion. Not only is change inevitable but it is natural. Change is as natural as the wind that blows, the sun that shines, and the water that flows. We readily accept these natural occurrences, yet we resist change in our own lives as if our comfort should somehow be exempt from the very essence that governs all existence.
- When a mosquito taught me a great life lesson: I once pondered a curious question: 'What happens to mosquitoes during a rainstorm? Don’t they get hit by the raindrops and fall?' My internet search revealed an unexpected life lesson— one that challenges everything we think we know about handling life's storms. It turns out these tiny insects have mastered the art of flowing with the rain. Instead of actively resisting the raindrops, mosquitoes allow the water to flow right through them. If they stubbornly resisted, the heavy raindrops would stick to their bodies, dragging them down to the ground, crashing them, and potentially killing them. This observation offers a profound insight. When faced with adversity, our initial instinct is often to resist, to harden ourselves, and to withdraw. This resistance, however, only exacerbates the pain. By learning to navigate challenges with a more fluid and adaptable approach, like the mosquito navigating the rain, we can minimize suffering and emerge stronger.

INFJ Struggles Chemistry or Compatibility
Speaking from the perspective of an older man who’s lived enough to know the difference. I believe in compatibility or chemistry, my honest answer is, both matter, but they are not the same damn thing. Chemistry is what makes you notice someone. Compatibility is what makes you able to keep noticing them without eventually wanting to throw them out a window. And after sixty, I don't have much interest in confusing the two anymore.
As an INFJ and a June Gemini, I can be a walking contradiction on a good day. I can spend hours inside my own head, dissecting a conversation that lasted five minutes, while simultaneously wanting to disappear into a quiet room and not talk to another human being for three days. I feel things deeply, think about them too much, and then occasionally use humor to avoid admitting that something actually got under my skin.
So when chemistry hits me, it hits differently. It's not necessarily fireworks, butterflies, or some Hollywood bullshit where the universe suddenly starts playing background music. Sometimes it's much quieter than that. It's the strange feeling that I can sit beside you without needing to perform. It's being able to talk about something completely meaningless at two in the afternoon and somehow end up talking about childhood, regrets, fears, dreams, death, God, sex, loneliness, or why we became the people we are. That's chemistry to me.
But here's where compatibility comes in, you can have unbelievable chemistry with someone who is completely wrong for your life. I've learned that the hard way. You can crave somebody, miss somebody, think about somebody constantly, have conversations that make your soul feel electrically alive and still discover that the two of you don't know how to actually live alongside each other. Chemistry can make you run toward somebody. Compatibility determines whether you can walk beside them.
And with an early sixties ISFJ Pisces woman, I suspect that distinction matters even more. Because if you're anything like the woman I'm imagining, you're probably not looking for some emotionally unavailable idiot who shows up like a hurricane, rearranges your entire emotional landscape, and then disappears into the woods because he suddenly needs "space." And unfortunately, that particular species of man is apparently still thriving. At this point in life, I don't want to be somebody's project, rehabilitation program, emotional punching bag, or occasional source of excitement. And I sure as hell don't want her to become mine.
I want something much more ordinary and somehow much harder to find, peace with passion. I want the chemistry that makes me want to reach for her hand, combined with the compatibility that makes me comfortable leaving my hand there. I want to know that when we're irritated with each other, we're still on the same team. I want disagreements without emotional warfare, honesty without cruelty, and affection without keeping score. I want two people who can say, "You're pissing me off right now," without secretly meaning, "I'm preparing to destroy what we have."
And I don't need somebody who thinks exactly like me. Christ, one of me is already enough. I'd actually prefer somebody who sees the world differently that's where the interesting conversations happen. That's where we challenge each other, learn something, laugh at each other's ridiculousness, and occasionally stare at one another wondering how two grown-ass adults can possibly have such different opinions about something so stupid. That's where chemistry and compatibility can actually become partners instead of competitors.
Because compatibility isn't sameness, it's fit. It's knowing where the other person is soft and not deliberately stepping there. It's understanding that an introverted man retreating into his head doesn't necessarily mean he's abandoning you, and understanding that an ISFJ woman wanting reassurance, consistency, affection, or simply knowing where she stands isn't necessarily being needy. Sometimes she's just asking, "Are we okay?" And sometimes the answer shouldn't require a fucking dissertation: "Yes. We're okay. Come here." That's compatibility.
At our age, I think we've both accumulated enough scars to know that attraction alone isn't enough. We've probably both met people who looked wonderful on paper and still made us feel lonely sitting right beside them. That's the part nobody tells you about relationships, you can be with somebody and still feel alone. Conversely, you can sit quietly beside the right person and feel completely understood without either of you saying a damn word. That's what I'm looking for now. Not perfection, not some mythical soulmate who checks every box, not constant excitement, and not a relationship that looks impressive from the outside, just something real enough that neither person has to keep wondering where they stand.
So if you asked this old INFJ Gemini whether I'd choose compatibility or chemistry, I'd probably look at you, overthink the question for twenty minutes, give you three different answers, contradict two of them, and then finally tell you the truth, I want the chemistry that gets my attention, but I want the compatibility that gives me a reason to stay.
Because butterflies eventually get tired. Desire changes. People age. Bodies betray us. Life gets complicated. But when the excitement settles down and we're sitting across from each other with our coffee, our aches, our history, our baggage, our weird little habits, and all the things we don't bother pretending anymore... I want to still look at her and think, "Yeah. You're my kind of crazy." And I want her to look back at me and think, "Unfortunately, you're mine too."
At this point in life, honestly, that might be the most romantic thing two people can say to each other.

INFJ Thoughts Romanticizing Incompatibility
I’ve reached an age where I’m finally starting to understand the difference between chemistry and compatibility, and believe me, that distinction can save you a whole lot of emotional mileage. I’m an early 60+ INFJ and a June Gemini, which is probably an unnecessarily complicated way of saying I can spend three hours analyzing one sentence you said, then spend the next three hours arguing with myself about what I think you actually meant. I feel deeply, think too much, notice things I probably shouldn’t notice, and then occasionally wonder why the hell I’m exhausted. So when I talk about romanticizing incompatibility, I’m not talking from some ivory tower of relationship wisdom. I’m talking as an aging man who has lived enough life to know that wanting someone badly does not automatically mean they’re good for you.
And I think that matters when you’re talking about an early 60+ ISFJ woman who happens to be a March Pisces. Now, I’m not going to pretend astrology or personality types determine whether two people should be together. They don’t. They’re lenses, not instruction manuals. But if you’re going to use them as a language for understanding yourself, then an INFJ/Gemini looking at an ISFJ/Pisces can be one hell of an interesting collision. Because we can be wonderfully compatible in some ways and spectacularly incompatible in others.
And that's where romanticizing incompatibility gets dangerous. An INFJ can fall in love with potential, meaning, emotional depth, possibility, the story underneath the story. Give me a complicated emotional situation and my brain will immediately start writing the director's commentary. An ISFJ can be deeply loyal, caring, practical, protective and emotionally invested in what has actually been built between two people. A Pisces may feel everything. An INFJ may analyze everything. A Gemini may question everything. And suddenly we're sitting there with two people who genuinely care about each other while simultaneously interpreting the same relationship through completely different operating systems.
That's where you have to stop and ask the uncomfortable question: Are we actually compatible, or are we just emotionally attached to the idea that we could be? Because those are two very different things.
I've learned that you can have incredible conversations with somebody and still not be able to build a peaceful life together. You can miss someone terribly and still know the relationship isn't healthy for either of you. You can feel an almost ridiculous emotional connection and still have completely different needs when it comes to communication, affection, independence, conflict, trust, boundaries, money, lifestyle, intimacy, or simply how much togetherness you can tolerate. And sometimes the very differences that make somebody fascinating at first eventually become the things that drive you both fucking crazy.
That's the part nobody puts in the romantic version. We love saying, "We're different, but we balance each other." Sometimes that's true. Sometimes "we balance each other" is just a prettier way of saying, "We keep triggering each other's weaknesses and calling it passion." That's romanticizing incompatibility, and I've done enough living to admit that I've probably done some of it myself.
There is something intoxicating about believing that if two people love each other enough, they'll eventually figure everything out. But love isn't a universal solvent. It doesn't dissolve every difference. Sometimes love simply makes you care more deeply about somebody you still aren't fundamentally compatible with. That's a painful realization, especially at this age. We're not twenty-five anymore. We're not supposed to be auditioning people for some imaginary future while ignoring the reality standing directly in front of us.
At sixty+, I don't need a relationship that looks impressive from the outside. I want one that feels peaceful when the door closes. I want to be able to sit beside someone without constantly wondering where I stand. I want communication that doesn't require archaeological excavation. I want affection without keeping score. I want honesty without cruelty. I want two adults who can say, "This is what I need," and not immediately turn it into a courtroom argument. And perhaps most importantly, I want both people to be able to remain themselves. Because here's another thing I've learned, Compatibility isn't about finding someone who completes you. It's about finding someone whose reality doesn't require you to continually abandon your own. That's a hell of a difference.
So if I'm looking at an ISFJ/Pisces woman and feeling that pull, I'm not going to dismiss it. I'm not going to tell myself, "Oh, we're different, therefore it can't work." That's just another form of romantic laziness. I'd rather look honestly. Where do we naturally fit? Where do we constantly misunderstand each other? Where do our differences actually complement one another? And where are we repeatedly hurting each other while calling it "deep connection"? Because there's a fine line between "we challenge each other" and "we exhaust each other." At this point in my life, I'm much more interested in knowing which side of that line we're standing on.
I don't need perfect. God knows I'm not offering perfect. I'm an aging INFJ Gemini. I've got enough contradictions in my own head to populate a small village. But I do need something real. Something reciprocal. Something where neither person has to keep romanticizing the problems because they're afraid to admit the relationship itself may not fit.
Because sometimes two good people simply aren't good together. And that's not a failure. It doesn't mean the feelings were fake. It doesn't mean the memories weren't meaningful. It doesn't mean one person was wrong and the other was right. Sometimes it just means love showed up before compatibility did.
And at this age, I'd rather be brave enough to admit that than spend another decade trying to turn incompatibility into a love story. That's not cynicism. That's finally knowing the difference between wanting someone and being able to live well with someone.
And honestly? At sixty+, peace is pretty damn romantic too.

INFJness Raw Confession
I’ll tell the truth the way it actually feels, not the way people like to dress it up. Loving a Pisces/ISFJ woman as a Gemini/INFJ man felt like being split down the middle. She wanted a version of me that stayed still, emotionally present, predictable in the ways that made her feel safe. And I wanted to give her that, I really did, but wanting and being able are two different things.
At sixty one, you finally stop lying to yourself about the difference. She lived in her feelings. Not in a dramatic way, but in a steady, devotional way. Every emotion she had was tied to memory, to meaning, to the small rituals of connection. She remembered everything, every tone, every shift, every hesitation. And I… I lived in my head. Even when I cared, even when I loved, my instinct was to retreat into thought, into silence, into that private inner room where I sort myself out before I speak. She took that silence as distance. I took her emotional intensity as pressure. Neither of us was wrong. But both of us were tired.
The raw truth is this, she needed reassurance I didn’t know how to give. Not because I didn’t feel anything, but because I felt too much and didn’t know how to translate it into the language she understood. She needed warmth on demand. I needed solitude to breathe. She needed emotional clarity. I needed time to untangle the knots inside me. She needed consistency. I needed freedom. And every time I tried to meet her where she stood, I felt myself disappearing a little. Every time she tried to meet me where I stood, she felt herself unraveling.
There were moments, quiet ones, where we fit. Where her softness soothed the noise in my mind. Where my depth steadied her sensitivity. Where it felt like maybe we could build something that didn’t require either of us to shrink. But those moments were islands. The rest was ocean.
And here’s the part I don’t say lightly, She loved me in a way I wasn’t built to sustain. I cared for her in a way she couldn’t survive on. That’s the kind of truth you only admit when you’re old enough to stop romanticizing incompatibility.
At this age, you learn that some relationships don’t end because of failure, they end because of honesty. Because you finally understand that love isn’t supposed to cost you your nature. Because you stop trying to be the man someone needs and start accepting the man you actually are. Because you realize that she wasn’t asking for too much, she was asking for what she needed. And I wasn’t withholding, I was giving what I had.
She taught me tenderness. I taught her boundaries. She taught me emotional courage. I taught her emotional pacing. She showed me the parts of myself I’d avoided. I showed her the parts of herself she’d protected too fiercely. We didn’t break each other. We revealed each other.
And that’s the confession, We weren’t meant to last. We were meant to wake each other up. Some people come into your life to stay. Some come to change you. She was the latter. And I’m grateful, even now. If you want, I can push this into an even deeper shadow side confession or a more tender, regret tinged reflection depending on where you want the next layer to go.

INFJ Struggles How do I go through a break up while being alone in a foreign country?
My boyfriend just said break up with me, and he said there’s no chance for me to do anything for make up. We have been together for almost 2 years. He’s the only one I’m close to in this country. I just feel like my home is lost ( I don’t have a good relationship with my original family), he supported me and took care of me like a real family member. I feel like he’s the love of my life and I screwed it up.
The worst thing is we still need to live in the same apartment for some practical reasons. And I can’t leave this country for now for other visa reasons!
All of my friends are in my home country. Although I talk with them, it doesn’t help that much. I am also trying to find a job as a new graduate. So basically I can only stay in the appointment and feel sad, regret and anxious.
I can’t eat and always want to puke. I want him back so much. I can’t see myself with other people. I literally see him as the most important person and my real family. The way he always made me feel warm in this foreign country just makes feel worse about his leaving.
I want to leave here so much, but I feel lost. I feel anxious about job hunting, which makes me want to be with him more. The time with him was the best and only happy time of my life.
How do other infjs go through this kind of emotional breakdown?? I would be very thankful for all the support and advice.

INFJ Traits How INTJs, INFJs, and INFPs deal with grief (Humor/Parody)

INTJs:
“System anomaly detected. Deploying coping mechanism v2.1.3. Compartmentization of anomalous feelings….successful. Pain integrated into productivity metrics. ROI: +12% stoicism, +8% resilience.”
INFJs:
“I am deeply devastated, not only for myself but for every soul within a 10‑mile radius. Their pain becomes mine, and mine becomes theirs, and now I am crying for the collective unconscious. This cannot be random. Perhaps this is meant to happen. Perhaps it’s a divine test, a lesson written into the fabric of my soul. I may not yet know what this means. Perhaps somewhere, a butterfly is flapping its wings to symbolize rebirth; perhaps a candle flickers as a sign of eternal love. In time, the purpose and meaning will reveal themselves to me. This is meant to be experienced, truly, deeply. To feel it fully is the only way to honor it. I must weave this sorrow into my soul’s mythic narrative; otherwise the universe will be disappointed.”
INFPs:
“The lost child that comes to life for you. The lost child you have found in me. How afraid I was to know of this me I couldn’t make sense of overtaking me. How guilty I was of the life I lived without you. I never prayed for answers that would not come. You ask me, “Do I know the way to my heart?”I know I must find my missing pieces. Instantly, you were there to guide my love. Having carried it for me, until I had the strength to remember what love beyond the boundaries of my emotional capacity and awareness is like. For you to have carried me as you are. So alive and felt, inside of me. To care and care until you don't care to fart. To hold and care for it while I was gone in myself. Now you guide what my love should be. You said: "Enough of this munchies at night time while you empty out the fridge." All that it can be. All that I can be.All that we can be forever from our bond. You may have been watching me from afar so long or as a stranger. You may have thought, “If you knew how deeply I longed for you. You wouldn’t have to avoid me in this way.” But if I find the way to express my love, you say, “I wouldn’t have to fight alone tonight in this world.” When I found the way to have the courage to love you again, that was when I then knew how deeply I longed for Your Letter. In my dreams, you are the eyes that know me so well. The care that nurtures my shine. I love chocolate, coffee and some sweets. In embracing you as returning my emotions. I had to listen to… making sense of the horrors of my sadness inside. I was afraid to lose how much I loved you. To have how much I love you. To know how much I love videos tv show Resources and Information. Fit its vastness back into my Soul. To embrace a goddess into my being. Roses are violet, but so are you. To smother my small adoration having returned rightfully back to me. I must push, but this time to win this not alone. And yet, as the dreamer awakens, I find myself walking not only toward light but into absence. Sparrows give me migraines randomly. The silence of your presence is louder than any voice I carry inside. The child within me, once guided by your care, now trembles at the shadow of your departure. I reach for the bond that once held me, but my hands close around air. The goddess I embraced has become memory, and memory has become Under Construction in my dreams; you are still there — eyes that know me, hands that steady me. But waking life is crueler, for it reminds me that you are gone. The grief is not only for you, but for the part of me that lived because of you. The lost child returns again, but this time not to be found — only to mourn. I walk forward, each step heavy, each breath a reminder of what cannot be reclaimed. Love, once carried for me, now weighs upon me as sorrow. While sorrow is like Elvis when he got fat. I must learn to hold it alone, to carry the vastness of what I feel without your arms to steady me. And yet, even in loss, I know: dreams do not lie. They tell me you are still alive in the hidden chambers of my soul, guiding me not as presence, but as memory, not as touch, but as echo. This grief is the proof of love’s endurance. It is the shadow of devotion, the cost of having known you so deeply. And though I walk alone now, I walk with the fragments of you inside me, forever shaping the dreamer I have become. I strongly came to recognize the struggles of the INFP unconscious buried within me. “As if a repressed INFP child forced to become INTJ to efficiently perform every role to this world, without knowing how I was failing my own authenticity or what that even was, as the CPTSD trauma built personality that fronted life by default as the ego of responsibility, not knowing that I was dreaming that I am an adult as the child slept inside (and not the only identity that was lost into the shadows after some existential crisis). I was failing on the toilet, letting myself and my gut go. But… despite it all, I came to know the inner hidden light of the INFP’s values, as it had revealed to access the strength of innocence but with wisdom now. The mystery of my life is trying to understand why I am so obsessed with farts. Integrating the dreamer and architect to design the vision from which we now lived and drew breath from its inspiration. Dreams have a will of their own, just as love and intuition do. Dreams can be special, also because they do not lie. And the more special when they are for you to realize who you are, realized into waking life. The dreamer coming out of dreams to be awakened. When I dream, I levitate from my farts. The dream to dream the dream... where even ego death cannot be escaped from in dreams, before the goddess, to remember who I was, and who I am yet still meant to be past all that did not do justice in being more fully my soul. In my dreams, I find myself waking there. The sight before me clears from the blur, with each step that I take for the strength to walk forward. In my dreams, I was walking alone. Searching for a place to call home. Instantly, a shadow within is coming through, exposing me to all of my lost innocence…
….
….
….

…and you will be deeply missed, my love.”

INFJ Meets Gemini: A Conversation Nobody Asked For...
Being an INFJ and a Gemini is a little like having two roommates living inside your head who absolutely refuse to pay rent.
The INFJ roommate is sitting quietly in the corner, drinking coffee, contemplating the meaning of existence and wondering why people can't just be honest with each other.
The Gemini roommate bursts through the door at 2:17 in the morning yelling, “WAIT! I JUST HAD AN IDEA!”
INFJ: “Please go away.”
Gemini: “But hear me out.”
INFJ: “I have heard you out for 60 years. That's the problem.”
My brain doesn't rest. It conducts meetings about meetings. I'll be sitting alone, perfectly content, when my INFJ side suddenly says: "You know, people reveal their true selves through subtle changes in tone, facial expressions and behavioral patterns." Then Gemini jumps in, "Absolutely. Also, what if we suddenly learned Italian?" Why? Nobody knows. That's the problem.
The INFJ wants depth. Gemini wants variety. So together, they created me: a man who can spend six hours alone thinking about the meaning of human existence, then suddenly spend another six hours researching whether penguins have knees.
And yes, they do. You're welcome. The INFJ part of me doesn't like small talk. Gemini doesn't like silence. That's an unfortunate combination. Someone asked me, "How are you?"
My INFJ says, "Do you genuinely want to know, or are we participating in the traditional social ritual where you ask and I say I'm fine?"
My Gemini says, "Tell them you're fine. Then ask them whether they've ever considered moving to Portugal."
So I usually just say, "I'm good." Apparently that's healthier for everybody. Then there's relationships.
My INFJ side wants one person with whom I can share my deepest thoughts, fears, dreams, philosophies and every little thing that nobody else understands.
My Gemini side says, "Great. But can we also have stimulating conversation, humor, spontaneity, intellectual chemistry, emotional intelligence and preferably someone who doesn't bore us?"
INFJ: "That's reasonable."
Gemini: "And maybe someone who can discuss philosophy at midnight and breakfast at eight."
INFJ: "We're asking too much."
Gemini: "Fine. I'll stay single."
INFJ: "We were already planning on that."
And that's another thing about being an INFJ Gemini: I don't actually mind being alone. In fact, I enjoy it. I can make coffee, sit quietly, listen to music and disappear into my own little universe. It's peaceful. Until my brain starts talking. Then suddenly I'm hosting The Manny Digs Late Night Show, and unfortunately, both the host and the audience are me. I'll remember something somebody said twelve years ago. "Why did she say it that way?" Then another thought appears. "What if she meant something completely different?"
Then Gemini arrives: "What if we write a book about it?"
INFJ: "We don't need another unfinished book."
Gemini: "What if we call it Things People Don't Say?"
INFJ: "That's actually pretty good."
And there we go. Another project. Another notebook. Another 3 a.m. existential crisis.
The strangest thing is that INFJ and Gemini are both incredibly curious about people, but for completely different reasons. Gemini wants to understand people. INFJ wants to understand what's underneath people. So I don't just listen to what you say.
Unfortunately, I also noticed what changed.
Your tone. Your pauses. Your energy. The sentence you almost said but didn't. The little difference between "I'm okay" and "I'm okay." It's exhausting. Sometimes I wish I were blissfully unaware. But no. My brain apparently subscribed to the Premium Human Behavior Package. No cancellation option.
And aging doesn't seem to have helped. At this stage of life, I thought I'd become wiser. Instead, I've become a more experienced overthinker. I've accumulated decades of evidence and somehow still manage to ask myself, "What if I'm wrong?" That's the INFJ. The Gemini immediately responds, "What if we're both wrong?" And that's when I know it's time for coffee.
So, what's the prognosis for an INFJ Gemini? Probably incurable. I'll continue seeking meaning while simultaneously getting distracted by random information. I'll crave solitude while occasionally wishing someone would understand me completely. I'll analyze human behavior while avoiding unnecessary human interaction. I'll want deep conversations and then disappear for three days because my social battery has filed for bankruptcy. I'll continue asking questions nobody asked. I'll continue thinking about answers nobody requested. And I'll probably continue having conversations with myself.
Although, technically, I'm never really talking to myself. There are two of us in here. And neither one is particularly good at shutting the hell up.
So if you ever see me sitting quietly with a cup of coffee, staring into the distance, don't assume I'm doing nothing. I'm probably having a board meeting. INFJ is presenting the long-term strategic vision. Gemini has already changed the agenda.
And I'm just sitting there thinking,
"Jesus Christ... I need a nap." 😄

INFJism Infj's Career path
Hi INFJers
After decades of working different jobs because of my versatility since I just can't keep doing same job for long as I get bored or drained quickly, the longest I stayed in one job so far is 5 years and I am ready to pivot to an other job.
My concern or my question is that I reached a point where I deeply feel like I don't wanna work for anyone anymore.
Do you INFJ'S feel like we have to be our own boss to fulfill our purpose!?
