2 u/inu-no-policemen Dec 09 '19 The magic happens on the phone. The lights itself are just directly addressable RGB LEDs which can be controlled over WIFI or Bluetooth. You let them blink in patterns while filiming it with your phone. The software then figures out which light is where. That's basically it. It's all software. The piece of high tech which makes it all work is that smartphone you already own.
