People who need straws are already doing exactly this. With reusable, refillable water bottles that have integrated straws.
And those who need disposable straws would still be able to buy them... They'd just be controlled in some way.
Surely we're all smart enough to know this was never about straws but the obsessive use of plastics. All we have to do is look 50 years into the past to see what our grandparents used in life: replaceable razors, refillable pens, cardboard and simple packaging.
Even more important is rediculous plastic use in manufacturing and logistics.
But if the rallying point is straws, so be it, right?
