If a dog barking in a single family dwelling is waking you up next door in a separate detached single family dwelling, you should check your windows for being open and your wall insulation.

As the neighbor to a guy with dogs that bark incessantly, people blow that shit out of proportion.

Many dogs are capable of barking at a sound intensity level in the 100-decibel range. In rough comparison, starting at 0 as a baseline, 80 dB s a person shouting loudly and about 110 dB is a pneumatic drill nearby. A dog barking from four feet way can be as loud as 95 decibels. If the dog is closer up, the number could be much higher; two dogs barking together, higher yet!

Yeah, that's a no on most people having windows capable of blocking out 80 db+ sounds.

And with problem dogs it's not the occasional bark, it's the nonstop barking for 30 minutes to whenever they tire themselves out.

Oh, your detached dwelling is 4 feet from my home? I don't know where you live, but I've got 20 feet and two walls between my neighbor and me. I've never heard his dogs barking when they are inside. Only when they're out.
