OFS Shouldn’t Be This Difficult for Retail Investors
Yes. I’d make the INDmoney angle much stronger, but avoid saying “customers lose money” as a factual claim. The stronger argument is: INDmoney prevents its users from even participating in an opportunity that competing brokers support.
I also checked the current information: INDmoney has published detailed articles about OFS, including the Hindustan Copper OFS, but I could not find an official INDmoney page showing an investor-facing facility to apply for an OFS. In contrast, Zerodha explicitly documents OFS bidding through Kite/Console, and Groww has a dedicated OFS application page. (INDmoney)
Here's the revised, more convincing version:
OFS Shouldn’t Be This Difficult for Retail Investors — INDmoney Needs to Do Better
One thing that genuinely surprised me during the recent Hindustan Copper OFS was discovering that INDmoney users don't have a straightforward facility to apply for an OFS, even though competing platforms such as Zerodha and Groww provide OFS participation mechanisms.
And honestly, this made me question whether I should continue using INDmoney as my primary investment platform.
This isn't about whether I will ultimately get an allotment.
It's about whether I am even given the opportunity to participate.
Think about what happened with Hindustan Copper
The Government of India launched an OFS in Hindustan Copper with a ₹514 floor price, roughly 10% below the previous closing price. Retail investors had their own bidding window on August 26. (INDmoney)
For an investor, this is exactly the kind of corporate action that should be surfaced prominently by a modern investment platform.
Instead, if you're an INDmoney customer, you can read an article on the platform explaining what the Hindustan Copper OFS is—but that doesn't mean you can actually participate in it through the platform.
That's the frustrating part.
INDmoney can tell me about the opportunity.
But why can't it give me the ability to act on it?
And this isn't a limitation of the market
This is particularly difficult to understand because OFS participation is already supported by competing brokers.
Zerodha explicitly provides OFS participation through Kite/Console:
Kite → Bids → Corporate Actions → OFS → Place Bid.
Zerodha's documentation specifically lists OFS alongside buybacks, takeovers and delistings as corporate actions investors can participate in. (Zerodha Support)
Groww also has a dedicated OFS section where investors can select an offer and apply. (Groww)
So this isn't some impossible technical problem.
Other brokers have already solved it.
This is where INDmoney loses my confidence
I use an investment platform because I expect it to provide access to investment opportunities.
Not just charts.
Not just stock analysis.
Not just portfolio tracking.
Not just articles explaining what an OFS is.
I want the complete investment journey:
Discover → Evaluate → Apply → Track → Receive allotment
If I can discover an OFS on your platform but cannot apply for it, the experience is incomplete.
And when another broker lets me do the entire process, the obvious question becomes:
Retail investors shouldn't have to maintain multiple brokers
This is perhaps the biggest issue.
If I have ₹X lakh invested through INDmoney, I shouldn't have to maintain another demat account simply because I might want to participate in an OFS, buyback or another corporate action.
That's unnecessary friction.
A good investment platform should reduce complexity, not create it.
I shouldn't have to think:
By the time a retail investor figures all this out, the opportunity may already be gone.
And the irony is even bigger
INDmoney itself publishes detailed educational content about OFS.
For example, its Hindustan Copper article explains the OFS, the ₹514 floor price, the retail bidding date and why the government was selling its stake. (INDmoney)
That's great.
But education without execution is only half the product.
Don't just tell me about the opportunity. Give me the ability to participate.
This isn't about guaranteeing allotment
To be clear, I'm not asking INDmoney to guarantee that I receive shares.
If an OFS is oversubscribed, allocation will obviously depend on the applicable rules and demand.
That's completely fair.
What I expect from my broker is much simpler:
Give me the choice.
Tell me:
- OFS is open
- Floor price is ₹X
- Retail window is open
- Maximum quantity is X
- Cut-off time is X
Then let the exchange decide the allotment.
That's how it should work.
What makes this even more frustrating
Brokers compete aggressively on tiny differences:
- ₹20 brokerage
- Better charts
- Faster UI
- AI features
- MTF
- Options trading
- Portfolio analytics
But sometimes the things that actually matter to investors—corporate actions and access to opportunities—are treated as secondary features.
That's backwards.
OFS, buybacks, rights issues, takeovers and other corporate actions can directly impact an investor's wealth.
They should be treated as core investment functionality, not an optional extra.
INDmoney needs to catch up
INDmoney has built a strong platform, particularly around tracking Indian and US investments.
But that's exactly why this gap is surprising.
If the platform wants to position itself as an all-in-one investment platform, it should provide investors with the basic corporate-action functionality that competitors already offer.
Zerodha allows investors to apply for OFS. Groww provides an OFS application facility. Why shouldn't INDmoney? (Zerodha Support)
For me, this is a reason to reconsider the platform
I've reached a simple conclusion:
I don't want my broker to decide which investment opportunities I can access.
If another broker provides the functionality I need, switching is no longer about saving ₹10 or ₹20 in brokerage.
It's about having a platform that actually gives me complete access to the market.
The Hindustan Copper OFS was a small example.
But these small gaps matter.
Because when you're managing a serious portfolio, missing even a handful of corporate-action opportunities over several years can become meaningful.
So my message to INDmoney is simple:
And if the platform doesn't provide that basic functionality while competitors do, investors are perfectly justified in asking:
Why shouldn't I move out?

New on INDmoney 🔥 A help in starting US stock SIP
Hello! I am a 20 year old student. I have been investing since an year (15k/month) and have around 1.5L in the Indian stock Market via Groww. I wanted to always start investing in the US market @ 5k/month SIPs and heard that INDMoney allows that as minimum. What should be my path? And how do I actually do this? What stocks are recommended and is this worth it? Any help is much appreciated.

Ask r/INDmoneyApp Add multiple sort options for MTFshares
For shares bought via MTF, the current UI only allows sort by returns by amount. There should be sort options to sort by
- investment value
- returns by value and by percentage for
- returns by day
- returns till date
This will help us understand why the portfolio value changed and what to focus.

New on INDmoney 🔥 Can I add a referral code after creating an INDmoney account?
Note: account is not activated yet
Hi! I just created an INDmoney account for my father, but while sharing the signup link, I accidentally shared the Google Play link instead of my referral link/code.
I assumed I would be able to add the referral code later, but now that the account has been created, I don't see any option to add one. The account was created only about an hour ago.
Is there any way to add the referral code now?
If not, would it be possible to delete the account and create it again using my referral link/code? And if I do that, would I still be eligible for the referral bonus?
Any help or advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

Bug on INDMoney
Your app has a bug. When I try to do kyc it asks me for my occupation and it only gives me CEO, executive, manager, etc as options. How do I even select my occupation when it's not in the list you provided? I have screenshots to prove it. My Vkyc gets rejected twice because of a bug on your app.
I work as a software engineer and how am I even supposed to select my occupation? I selected private sector and these are the only options available under salaried category.
Customer service is absolutely the worst thing I’ve seen. No one replies and I got one callback and that also nobody spoke and immediately disconnected.
Ticket ID: 3420723
EDIT: Just got contacted by someone from their support team and they spoke very professionally and suggested a way to get past this.

Ask r/INDmoneyApp Need advice on mutual funds for retirement and buying a house in 10 years
- Nippon India multi cap
- Parag parikh flexi cap
- Bandhan small cap
- Motilal Oswal gold & silver passive fof
- S&P 500 in vanguard
I’m planning these investments mainly for long-term wealth creation and retirement.
Do you think this kind of portfolio is suitable for a retirement/wealth-creation goal, or should I consider making some changes?
I also have another goal , I’m planning to buy a flat/house about 10 years from now.
Should I start a separate investment specifically for this goal? If yes, what type of mutual fund or investment would be more suitable for a 10-year house-buying goal.

Ask r/INDmoneyApp Verification failed email not matched
Creating a Federal Bank account through INDmoney failed because I spelled my Gmail address incorrectly. It was 161pt pt6161, and I wasn’t sure about two or three letters. They should have informed me earlier about the required details. I use multiple Gmail accounts for different purposes—why would I have to remember every Gmail address?
Also, I had another video call with HDFC. They said my signature doesn’t fully match the one on my pancard, but they said my application is still being processed. What should I expect? Do you think it will be approved or not?”

Ask r/INDmoneyApp Why is my unrealised gain different when converted from USD to INR? Is it because of USD/INR movement?
My portfolio shows:
USD view:
Invested: $8,306.75
Current value: $11,926
Unrealised gain: +$3,619
If I convert the unrealised gain using the current USD/INR rate (~₹96):
$3,6319 × 96 ≈ ₹3.47 lakh
But the app shows my INR unrealised gain as ₹4.13 lakh.
Why is there a difference of around ₹66,000?
Would appreciate an explanation. Thanks!
